Error 16 on Windows 10 Help !!

Hello everyone,

So I have a Windows 10 computer, and have downloaded the Premiere Pro Program today. However, when the download is finished, I have an Error 16 message, telling me to uninstall/install the program. I've done that and nothing doesn't work.

I went on this link : Erreur de configuration dans Adobe Creative Cloud ou Adobe Creative Suite , it's in French but that's what Adobe recommends us to do to fix the problem.

I've followed through all the steps, which were really not clear, because I couldn't find half of the commands (even though I assure you I've looked and looked, and even searched online).

Do anyone had that problem? How did you fix it? Or do you have any ideas?

Thank you so much for your help community!

Hoping to hear from you soon

I got a message from Adobe saying there is a work around for the last crash... I’m on a Mac??? What’s up with that Adobe?

"

I too was directed here after Premiere CC 2017 crashed on me. This forum seems to be unrelated to my crash. I'm working on a mac, not a pc, and I was not told to uninstall and reinstall software.

Premiere Pro 2017 crashes daily, but this was the first time I was told Adobe had found a "workaround" for my issue. But leading me here is a waste of my time."

Same thing here, come on! fix this, customers are waiting!

I've just been directed here as since upgrading on my Mac I cannot open any premier pro projects.

This thread is completely irrelevant. Its all about Windows it seems to start with and my crashes are happening on a Mac.

How useless.

Hey Guys. Been following this conversation and while I am no expert I strongly advise you check your CUDA preferences and make sure your GPU is enabled for all the heavy lifting re graphics, rendering, etc. If not your CPU is doing everything which from what I hear is a bad thing. Also, their may be a conflict where some NVIDIA drivers are not updating or causing conflicts.

Disclaimer this is what I saw with Windows 10 users. Seems as if the latest windows update doesn't play nice with some GPU drivers (notably NVIDIA, haven't heard anything from AMD users) but this may cross over into MAC users (missing GPU drivers or current drivers not playing nice or being told to play nice with some tweaks).

Please refer to this video by Chromacide:

GPU Acceleration In Premiere Pro and After Effects 2017! - YouTube

Seems as if there may be a missing file (Adobe, are you listening, please put down your avocado sandwiches for a couple of minutes) in program files that will prevent Premiere from using your GPU.

May be just a matter of adding a missing .txt file in the main Premiere Pro cc 2018 directory that will remind Premiere "Hey, I have a GPU!"

May be the same case for After Effects too.

Please note, this is for windows users but then again, the latest roll out may have omitted this particular detail regardless of the OS.

Guess that happens when you have too many avocado sandwiches!

Soon after installing Premiere Pro CC 2018, I try to open one of several projects created with PPro 2017, and in the court of re-linking media I get the alert "Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error and must close down" (or something like that).

After going through that a dozen times, I was finally brought to this page (after reporting the error), and I went through the process of changing the permissions described there. Actually, though, my permissions were already set up as shown.

I tried starting Premier Pro and opening those project files once more, and still nothing but crashes.

This seems like a fundamental problem—Adobe, please fix!! I cannot use the program!!

C'mon Adobe!  This thread doesn't fix the crash of CC2018 Premiere Pro on the very first launch after install.  Please take care of this issue promptly!

Yeah to above. I work on a MacBook Pro. 90% of my Premiere crashes occur when navigating bins and typing. It seems that if you do stuff fast it can't keep up and crashes. Double clicks are bad. It's f____cking annoying because I work fast. Instead of coming up with new features I never use, why don't they spend more resources on getting the software to be more stable. I still have render issues with Metal and open GL. Often to get a clean output I need to switch to software only. Too tired and jaded over this to say any more... but ...... the other NLE's look better all the time.
