Grid Effect

Needing a grid overlay for layout, I followed instructions for adding a transparent video track and applying the "Grid" effect. This worked perfectly: The controls for grid size, border and opacity were very useful.

In Premier Pro v22.5 (running on a M1 Macbook) this effect is marked "Obsolete". I wondered if grid overlays are available elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything. Are they hidden somewhere in another menu/panel? Is the current Grid effect scheduled to be eliminated?  Thanks

And for the guides you can make custom ones in PP and save them for recall.

You dont need the gird effect, Premiere has rulers and guides for some time now.

Thanks for the link. Guides certainly do the job most of the time, but sometimes I find a grid is more useful. Importing a grid defined in Illustrator would probably work in a pinch if the grid effect is discontinued.
