How to swap objects on timeline when clips are a different length?

How to swap objects on timeline, whatever they are trimmed, and swap with each other without changing, I know that you can change clips with ctrl+alt,but it only works when clips of the same size,otherwise the clip changes places, but it is trimmed, what to do?
