HUGE memory leak - Mac Apple Silicon - Premiere Pro version 23.2

I have an issue with the latest version of premiere working fine but progressivley getting slower, then filling all available ram and disk swap, I get a memory error on mac with premiere pro usung in excess of 100GB editing standard 4K footage, footage that never used to have issues until this version.

My system

Macbook pro 16 inch, 32`gb ram M1 Max

latest OS (13.2.1 (22D68))

Premiere 23.2

Its happened on multiple projects, some new some old.

I've had to revert to the previous version for my own sanity.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Correct answer Bruce Bullis

The original issue that generated this thread, has been fixed. It was related to memory usage around VST plugins.

[I'm not discounting the possibility that you're encountering a different issue...]

Do you have third party VST plugins installed?

I'm also having this issue! Has there been a fix yet??

Running 24.2 on a Macbook m1 Max.

Ram showing as using 280GB in premiere pro and causing the entire system to freeze up and all apps crashing.

Adobe staff - any insight into this yet?

For anyone experiencing this problem, what do you see for a file path for Media Cache and Media Cache Files under Preferences > Media Cache?

@maya piah3633142  (and others),

We have never been able to duplicate this issue inside Adobe, despite several efforts. @maya piah3633142 would you be willing to get on a call with me to show me exactly what you are doing? I know problems like this are very frustrating and they are for us too as without being able to duplicate the problem internally, it's very hard for us to know what's going wrong and to fix it.

Please DM me if you're willing to get on a call.

Regards,

Fergus

Hi I have the same issue. I am running a warp stabilizer on a file size 8.04 GB on. a new Macbook pro M3 18GB memory

95.67 GB available of 494.38 GB. I get the following message " Your system has run our of application memory."  I only have preview and adobe premier pro 2024 (not responding) 108.66 GB. I have restarted the project and re-imported the file, without any luck. I am not able to run the warp stabilizer?

just happened to me again for the first time in a while using an M1 Max CPU, again disabling lumetri seems to stop the RAM spikes

Just, an update from myself, I don't seem to have encountered the bug in a while now while editing. I'm on the latest version of v24, but haven't noticed the ram spike in a couple months. It's a random issue, but I'll update if it happens again.

They don’t want to fix it… switching programs
