Question

I reset my Premiere settings! And it only got worse!

Now the entire program interface is running slowly, and when I try to open the Preferences settings, the program freezes for 20 seconds. Thank you for your advice! Now I have the slowest program in the world! Every window takes 10 seconds to open or freezes completely. This is a nightmare—not a program. I reinstalled the program—nothing changed.

@Paul_Gringo which version of Premiere are you using? We are aware of an issue on Windows where using the built-in screen Magnifier app or any other app that ties into the Windows accessibility system can cause severe lags when using Premiere. Things like taking 5-20 seconds for menus to appear, that sort of thing. In those cases, quitting the app that is running that uses those things fixes the issue. We are investigating a fix on our side.

Can you see if any background apps are running that might somehow be using an accessibility API?

    What if you re-enable iGPU?

Premiere Pro relies on Quick Sync to handle hardware decoding and encoding for highly compressed timelines (standard H.264/H.265, 8-bit, and 10-bit MP4/MOV files) especially H.265, priority is Intel Quick Sync.

Also ensure your media cache files better be pointed to your samsung drive rather than the

    Toshiba HDD.

Try to detach the Ugreen hub.

    Test RAM stability.

Having latest drivers and most powerful hardware with stress testing is not the ideal and all-in-one no issues solution. Researching and testing what is compatible and what is not is your go-to workflow.

Cache and projects are only on the SSD! I can't disconnect the hub—I use my mouse and keyboard through it, but I haven't noticed any issues. Especially since the mouse is Bluetooth and the keyboard is wired. If there were any problems, I would have noticed them in other programs. I ran some tests, and everything is fine—the RAM, the graphics card, and the CPU. I also ran all the tests in Samsung Magician—everything works perfectly! The problems I'm experiencing—in theory—could be related to the hard drives, the processor, or the graphics card. Freezes, CPU usage spiking to 100% when opening a project preview, and many others. I’d think of that right away too if it weren’t my computer—but! My hardware is actually fine; I don’t have any problems anywhere else besides Premiere—not in any of my 50 programs or hundreds of games—and that says something! If you have hardware issues, they affect your entire computer and all your software. If your CPU is overheating, you’d have problems with both games and all resource-intensive applications. If you have a virus, your CPU would be constantly overloaded, not just in a single program. Right now, it looks like the problem is limited to just one program.

As for the iGPU - 80% of the problems with Piemier were just when it was turned on and in the end I turned it off. Having studied the theory of this issue, it is better to disable the iGPU for video editing. I also consulted with a specialist who knows a lot about this and has built thousands of PCs—it’s better to disable the integrated graphics. That way, the program will run more stably and at 100% capacity.

@Paul_Gringo , you have an inimitable posting style of your own, very consistent.

So, I know you said on another post that you give your hardware details on almost every post, I still don’t remember ever seeing it, so how about it. What’s your hardware and OS like,
