Linking video & audio tracks doesn't seem to work -- or I don't understand it

I linked a pair of video and audio clips in the timeline. Then I dragged the video clip to the right. The audio clip didn't move with it. Isn't the point of linking that you can move one and the other moves with it? Clearly there's something basic here I don't understand.

Never mind... I just found the "linked selection tool."

Note to Adobe: It would be nice if https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/trimming-clips1.html mentioned this tool. 🙂

Hey mbeth,

Got it. Did you find the tool on your own? I could not find it in the User Guide at all, only the keyboard shortcut (Alt/Option drag audio or video), which temporarily disables/enables it. This is in the Trimming > Split Edits section of that article. I told the docs team about it. Thanks for drawing my attention to it.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin- I just moused over all the tool icons trying to figure out what they do. Names pop up, but often that's not much help! It'd be really nice if there were more in-context help. Like right clicking on a tool icon would bring up a paragraph about what it does, perhaps with a link to a help page that says more.
