Question

Memory (RAM) errors and messages after the 25 update.

So I've been struggling a lot with Premiere Pro since updating to the 25 version. I keep getting the error saying that my computer is running very low on memory whenever I try to import my clips. This isn't true because I have 32 GB RAM installed and I can see in the task manager that it's wrong. I also get this error every time I import clips (image attached). Does anyone know what is happening, and how to fix this?

Hi @eiriklush,

Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue. I appreciate you're frustrated, but we need to reproduce the issue in order to help resolve it.

Can you confirm which version of Premiere you are using?  There are multiple builds of 25 available.

What type of camera did this footage come from?  Can you send a screengrab of the media info?

Are your NVIDIA drivers up to date?   Is that what "the latest one" means?

I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the frustration!

  • Issue - Whenever I try to load in my media, premiere pro gives me an error saying: "Premiere Pro is running very low on memory (RAM)". Loading my media is also a hassle, over half my media won't load at all (Error retrieving frame ..." is the error that pops up. Very frustrating since it's never been like this before. The program also crashes my whole computer very often when I try to work in the program.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: Version 25
  • Operating system - Windows 10
  • System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • Intel Core i7

    • NVIDIA Geforce 1080

    • the latest one
    • 32GB

    • I have on internal HDD drive, and then 2 external SSD disks connected with USBc
  • Video format: 4k mp4, 4.2.2 10 bit
  • Workflow details: The problems start as soon as I import my media in any sequence.
  • Steps to reproduce - well, just open premiere and add media. The problems start for me as soon as I import my media.
  • Expected result - I should be able to edit normally without the program crashing every 30 seconds, and without it not being able to load my media.
  • Actual result -  Either the program crashed or my whole computer, or some of my media (never all of it) loads and I can edit for some time before it crashes again.
