Question

Need answers, not guesses as to why Premiere Pro is going black

I built a new PC a few months back and have had nothing but troubles with Premiere. From the Nvidia ProRes RAW driver issues to now this. Could they be related?

I am not new to computers nor Premiere, these issues are new to me. So, if you have advice, please have some solid reasoning behind it. I have lost too much income since the Nvidia driver issue started last November and am looking for real answers or results.

When editing ProRes RAW, my video in my Program Monitor will randomly go black. The only remedy is restarting Premiere Pro. After a short while it will happen again. Repeat. I just now (after 2 months of this) had an actual error pop-up. It states this: A low-level exception occured in: AE.ADBE Lumetri (GPUVideoFitler::Render)

Any thoughts?

Here are my specs:

Windows 11

Premiere Pro V23.2.0 (Build 69)

i9 13900K (not overclocked)

64GB DDR5 RAM

ASUS ROG STRIX 4080

EVGA 1300 G+ PSU

I am editing off of a 4TB 879 EVO SSD

Thanks in advance

-Michael

Hello @Binc Film,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug, and I apologize for the lack of a response. Are you still having this issue? If so, the team will need more information from you to reproduce the bug. Can you provide the information required here? How do I write a bug report?

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

That specific issue went away, but there are always issues with random crashes and when you export prores raw it skips frames between shots in the final export. I've replaced cpu, mobo, ram and ssds and no changes. Only constant is my 4080 rog strix.

There seem to be some issues with ProRes raw and GPU drivers in Premiere, I've seen a number of posts about this.

You need to find the driver that works, and of course,  do only a "clean" installation of the Studio driver without the Geforce Experience crud loaded. At this time, this is really the only safe route.

A bunch of the Nvidia drivers have been wonky as Hades. I work in both Pr and Resolve, and there's been problems with GPU drivers "over there" also.
