On the go Workflow for multiple Mac and windows users?

Hello Everyone,

First of all sorry if there is a better forum to post this too but I couldn't find anything related to what I'm looking for using the keywords I was.

So I just brought on a second editor to help me with live event editing where we are doing same day edits for social media content. The jobs are on the go so we are not in a studio/office with raids and what not. I edit on a Mac and he edits on a Windows. What is the best equipment/ workflow for us to both be able to connect to a hard drive and edit content simultaneously using the same project files? Is this even possible? at this first event we basically both had to build our own file systems of all the raw files identikits tidally on our own drives and then we passed the "Premiere pro project" back and forth via "Google drive" but this made it impossible for us to work on the same project. Very new to "Team Editing" so hopefully this is making sense. Any advice or points in the right direction would be greatly appreciate.
