P: Alt+ Scroll zoom behaves different on v24.4.0

Updated to latest version 24.4.0 and the Alt+ scroll zoom behaves different. It zooms to a totally different timeline area than the usual mouse pointer/playhead. Any workarounds?

Correct answer Trent Happel

Sorry for the wait, but we believe this issue should now be addressed in 24.6 beta build 020. Alt + mouse wheel scroll should zoom based on cursor location. Appreciate all the feedback.

I am on version 25.3 and am getting the same issue. The first time I started seeing it was on this most recent update so it either hasn't been addressed or it has returned.

On latest version 24.6.1 it seems to be working great. The Alt + mouse scroll zooms to the correct timeline area

I wanted to zoom in or out on my timeline with the OPT + Mouse Scroll shortcut but everytime i scroll a little bit to fast the timeline resets itself to the max zoom in. It just zooms out when i scroll very slow...

I dont know if i have a wrong mouse setting in premiere or on my mac... but every setting is on default.

Need help 🙂

Hello @Jeremy22269921hcpn & others on the thread,

This bug is marked as fixed in Premiere Pro 24.6. Please let the team know if you still see the issue in a new project. If necessary, I will move your thread to the "Discussions" forum for further troubleshooting. Glad the team was able to address this issue. Take care.

Thanks,
Kevin

It is not fixed. I am on 24.6.1 (build 2) and it's not fixed.

Horizontal scroll buggy when zoom out.

I'm facing a bug that every time I try to zoom out of the timeline with "alt + mouse wheel" in a large amount, it ends up zooming back to maximum in instead of continuing to zoom out. I noticed that this problem happens to some colleagues too. This error comes from old versions of Premiere Pro and to this day, in the latest version I still haven't discovered a way to resolve it. Can someone help me?

I left a video showing the bug.

The bug in this thread is related to timeline Alt+scroll zoom behavior. It is not related to the changes in the Program Monitor regarding middle mouse button zooming etc.

The correct behavior has been the action for many releases, and was not supposed to change. In the timeline, Alt+Mouse Button Scroll centers the zoom in/out on the MOUSE CURSOR position, not the playhead.

However, this was first broken in the 24.4.0 release (which was halted, and then the 24.4.1 release, and 24.5.0). The bug was also present in the Betas, and fixed in the Beta 24.6.0.20.

Using the timeline panel navigation bottom left, +, -, \,  centers the zoom on the playhead.

Zoom doesn't seem to want to zoom in on the cursor or mouse like it use to. Don't know, it feels weird now.

For example I want to zoom in on right side of timeline, I place my cursor on the right and scroll in but instead it zooms in on the center.

The 'Zoom' is the new standard. I take it you saw Trent's message, it was fixed in 24.6 beta build 020.

Thus this issue still exists in 24.5 of course.

Currently 24.6 is the beta build, look here: Premiere Beta

@RAFAL98A1 @Etienne de Durocher,

This is a bug; the correct behavior is for Alt+Scroll to zoom around the mouse cursor location.

The fix is in the Beta; the fix did NOT make into Release 24.5.0.
