Premiere 2026 Crashing Consistently

Anyone else seeing consistent crashing of Premiere 2026? I have the latest update as of February 4th, flushed cache multiple times, re-installed, restarted computer, etc. But certain elements such as:

  1. Scrubbing the Timeline
  2. Adding Effects
  3. Adding CAPTIONS (of all things)

Freezes the program and requires a forced quit. Attached is where the captions usually sit and fail before the crash occurs.

I’ll likely downgrade to Premiere Pro 2025 if not addressed soon - but checking to ensure I’m not the only one and I need to look at my own stuff? Currently on Macbook Pro 14” with M2 MAX.

Have there been any updates as to whether or not the problem has been solved for PrPro2026? Or is the only solution still to revert to 2025 for now?

So at least I’m not alone with this. Since about two months I’ve been encountering crashes now, mostly when working with MOGRTs. Beachball appears, spins for more than 20 seconds, then the whole machine freezes. Hard reset. I thought, maybe it is my rather old MacBook (2019, 16”, Intel i9, 32GB RAM, Mac OS Sequoia 15.7.4) and that my graphics chip starts breaking. Never had these complete freezes with older versions, though.

I've gone back to 2025 version. 2026 keeps coming up with video import errors and then it freezes. Awful software.

I don’t blame you. I’m now even debating a switch to DaVinci if this keeps up.

Premiere Pro has been crashing upon opening a project for me (any project).

Resetting cache/preferences didn’t help, but uninstalling and reinstalling did. I’ve had to reinstall twice in the last week.

Have you had luck with 26.0.2? I recently updated to 26.2.2. and the same issue happened all over, so I downgraded to 26.0.2 again. I need to remember to NOT update when it’s time to update...let Adobe work through their (seemingly many) technical issues here lately.

I blew up my 26 profile and it seemed better for a while. Then it started crashing again. Working on a multicam opera project and it stops and usually comes back into line but too often I’ve had to rely on recovery and a few times lost work. Clicking on a menu will cause a problem. Having features (selection follows playhead) deselect and when I open the Sequence menu to change it back it crashes. Not good at all. Win11, i9, 64GB DDR4 RAM, Nvidia RTX2070.

Oh, I returned to the latest 25 version after I’d almost lost 70% of my project and decided to stay there for a while...

Yes, I’m having the same issues since downloading the 2026 version. At first I thought it was my computer, but I have more than enough RAM/processing speed to handle Premiere. I’m downgrading to the 2025 version as well. A lot of my amateur filmmaking friends have recently switched to Davinci

Switching to DaVinci has never been more tempting. v26 is pathetic.

Premiere Pro 2026 is a nightmare. It consistently crashes (black screen) my beefed up 2019 mac pro. While Davinci and Premiere Pro 2025 works like a charm! It feels like dawn for Adobe. Soon we’ll all jump ship I guess.
