Premiere crashing when I drag and drop from 'Source Monitor' to 'Timeline'

Premiere has started with this annoying bug where everytime I try to drag and drop from the Source Monitor into a timeline, it will crash.
It happens whether I drag from the two little video/audio symbols (below).

OR if I drag directly from the image in the Source Monitor.

It's not 'the end of the world' but its proving to be so annoying when I instinctively reach for it, I always realise too late and there we go again, premiere crashes...

Anyone else had this issue?
I wonder if its a glitch associated with using linked proxies or something?

Yes, you can leave that folder open in Explorer and you'll see the new folder being created as PP starts. If nothing changes you can delete that newly created folder and rename you prefs folder back to what it was.

OK, it was a long shot. Try restoring your preferneces to default. The way I do it is I navigate to this folder:

%UserProfile%\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro

And then I rename the folder with the highest number, like below:

If that works, then it was something with your prefs, if not, you can delete the newly created folder and set back to the original prefs by renaming it to, it's original name. You can also go back to your original prefs temporarily to perhaps get screen shots of the prefs screen, so you can reset quickly using the new prefs.

Heya, thanks so much for this. So to confirm; you rename the (highest value)folder to something that adobe wont recognise. This will presumably result in premiere resorting to default prefs. If that works then I need to change my prefs manually within the program. If it didnt solve the issue, then I just rename that prefs folder to its original name and premiere will then revert back to the prefs that I was using before?

You might want to clear the cache:

Delete your cache files as follows. (Close Premiere Pro)
The files are located here, Paste the whole line below into File Explorer:
%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common

Simply delete the three folders:
•• Media Cache
•• Media Cache Files
•• Peak Files

Premiere Pro will automatically create the folders and files it needs as you edit. I do this before every upgrade. And/or if things seem to go strange. I also keep a desktop shortcut to this folder for quick access.

Thanks for the reply. Alas, this did not solve the problem though 😞

I just tried it, I don't use the source monitor for much, but it behaved as expected.
