Premiere default bin view is icon, but I want list and cannot solve this....

after much googling and tech calls and reddit etc I just can't solve this issue,

when premiere opens it defaults to icon view which is totally useless and just adds an extra click to my life dozens of times a day as I switch between projects.

Please assume I've spent over 30 mins trying everything everone on prior threads mentions to try

I've seen posts about this going back as far as 2017. I don't even know where to find the bug report page for Adobe, I feel like I'm in a loop on this site trying to find it (bug report page) and I have multiple projects to attend to.

thanks for the detailed response and yes I worked out I was talking about the wrong slash key.

Also I guess I saw those commands in the shortcuts, but as they use the word Icon, I didn't think they meant list, but I'm guessing it's probably just a toggle between 'list and icon'.

I have further information for you. I've have a template project that I've been using for years and this is the one that won't start in list view no matter how many times I change and save it, so I tried making a new template (now that Premiere has added this functionality, better a decade late than never I guess), and dropped my folder structure in a new template and saved it in Premiere's new template system, and I think it opened correctly.

I'll incorporate this into my evolving workflow as I set up incoming projects and hopefully this resolves the issue.

pls ignore my atrocious typos.

Hi @Snehal339946522laz

It's actually the other slash direction \, same key as the | key.

However, if you already have that mapped, simply type 'Icon' in the search, and you can map it however works best for you.  I hope that helps speed up the work if none of the other solutions were effective.

the shortcut command you mentioned 'Shift+/', what's the actual command name as I've already mapped that keystroke to something else. I can search the command name and assign it elsewhere.

I've now turned premiere on and off a dozen times, saving the list view and the workspace and the project, all of which have no produced the correct result.

Cheers Rach, I'll try that shortcut.

things I tried -

- switching to list view and saving gthe workspace, followed by a restart.

- switchign to list view, saving the bin view, saving the project workspace, saving the project, restarting.

it restarts, it's back in icon view, problem NOT solved.

I've done this (post-production) 20 yrs+ and can operate a computer quite comptetently thanks.

Hi @Snehal339946522laz,

Thanks for submitting your bug report.  You found it. This is the bug report page.  I can't assume what methods you may have tried, but try re-saving your Workspaces. Also, the shortcut shift \ will toggle between list and icon view quickly, so no clicks are involved if that helps speed up the process.  We need a few more details to try to help with the issue. Please see: How do I write a bug report?  Sorry for the frustration, and thanks for reaching out.
