Premiere Pro 2022 crashes when opening Windows Explorer

Hi,

Premiere Pro 2021 and Media Encoder work perfectly on my windows 10 PC that meets the minimum requirements..

But I cannot use Premiere Pro 2022 and Media Encoder 2022, that freeze everytime they need to open Windows Explorer to select a file or a folder.

I cannot even create a new project: in the "Import" tab: if I want to choose another project path, Premiere freezes when windows explorer opens.

The same in the "Export" tab when I want to change the export file name.

I still can do my own projects with Premiere 2021 but cannot work on any team project created with Premiere 2022.

Any idea on how to fix this ?

Thanks.

This is the solution! I had recently downloaded Aspera to get some Full res archival footage from a vendor, and didn't connect the two as being a related issue until this post.  thank you!!

This has been causing me issues for 10 months and everything I tired did not fix the issue!!.  Crazy,  the team at the Las Vegas Sphere wanted me to use IBM Aspera to send them files, and I had no idea that it would make my Premire unusable.  I had to get a second computer to edit.  Nothing else worked and I think I tried just about everything I could think.  Curse you IBM Aspera, you should come with a warning that you will make Adobe Premire Pro unusable.

Same here. Interestingly, only with Premiere but not with After Effects or Media Encoder. And the problem occurs only after I've been using Premiere for a while. When I open Premiere, importing and exporting files works fine. Then, after 20-30 minutes, when I try to modify the export location or import files, Premiere freezes before displaying the file dialog. I have to kill Premiere from Windows Task Manager, start it again, then everything works fine for another 20-30 minutes. I've been doing it for the at least one year. Very annoying.

Same here, but with all adobe. Can't open the finder in any app because they crash

I am also suffering from the same issue. Anytime Premiere attempts to open a location via Windows Explorer the program crashes. I've tried all the solutions suggested here, restarted the app, restarted my computer, reinstalled, cleared cache and ran as administrator always with the same result.

Can we please recieve some guidance on how this can be fixed? It is causing consistent delays on my projects.

Same issue here. PC is up to date. All fixes mentioned here is tried. Premiere Pro crashes everytime Explorer is involved - as opening project, LUTs so on, and so on....

I've tried reinstalled, run as administrator ... nothing helps. What is the sollution Adobe?

My sollution was to do a reset of windows.

This is what I was trying to avoid, but here I am - with a working Premiere.

I am not impressed with the lack of trying to help your customers, Adobe. 😞

AND now I'm back to start again. Damn it! I dont have time and patience for reset windows every other month.

Come on, Adobe.... Help us!

I'm having the same problem here, since a few hours. I can't get to fix it but by openning Premiere in administrator mode (which is annoying!). And it also crashes the same way in After Effects ! Everything that opens an explorer window makes it crash. Please Adobe tell us what's going on!

[FIXED]
same here, it started to happen since 2023
now: Premire pro v. 24.2.1 & win 10 22H2
I manage to fix exporting problem without opening windows explorer in Premiere just by sending export to AME and saving project worked also fine, untl now....  Almost every time when I try to save my project with "save as" Premiere crashes when it comes to open folder browser window.... But Hey! I found the ultimate solution for this expensive & buggy piece of software. I decided to learn Davinci ^^

I just began having this issue as well.  Premiere will freeze when trying to open the file explorer to "Import" files to a project, and just started freezing when clicking the destination path to export a render.  I have had to force quit Premiere dozens of times over the past week.  Thank God for auto-save, but very frustrating having to recreate any changes I have made since the last autosave.

Having the same issue myself WIndows 11 - V 22.6.4 (Build 2) - anything that involves opening an Explorer window hangs Premeire - but as if there is a window hidden that cannot be clicked on. The only way out of this was to close the process down through Task Manager - however there is a way to avoid that - ALt+Tab to another window, then Alt+Tab back to Premiere. The mouse still won't function, but you can Tab through the menu options to make the settings you want and Premiere will export and remain active.

Not the ideal solve - but saves closing the programme down and potentially losing work.

I have the exact same problem. I have the latest Premiere Version installed on Win10x64. Sometimes Premiere freezes without an error dialog when i do the following:

- Import via Explorer Dialogbox

- Choose Export destination with Explorer Dialogbox

- Export screenshot and choose destination with Explorer Dialogbox.

It seems like everytime a Explorer Windows has to be opened within Premiere, it freezes. This bug occurs not alway but from time to time. I couldn't figure out what causes the bug exactly. When it freezes i have to force close Premiere. Please help!
