After updating to PP 22, dynamic link with AE is not working. I've tried going to documents and putting OLD after dynamic link folder, but this did nothing.

This is so disappointing and am actually installing beta versions to finish a project.

Correct answer andz

Just an update on our side with regard on this dynamic link problem.

As of now with the latest update PP 22.11 AE 22.11 ME 22.11 , the dynamic link is working properly.

I hope also the lumetri will be fix soon.

Ill update here soon if something wrong comes up.

Write in which operating system are you running Win or Mac? And indicate with newly created projects in the updated version v.22.0 there are problems with dynamic links or migrated projects from the previous version.
This is a very important question.

Same problem.

Working with adobe is becoming unbearable. So many extra hours of work go in to solving their problems.

My Motion Graphics Templates (.mogrt) no longer open or load in Premiere after upgrading to 2022.  I assume it is the same issue as this thread, because I believe it uses Dynamic Link for certain things.  Having to choose between not breaking your workflow on one project or using the latest features in all your other projects is frustrating.

Same problem! Will be re-installing 2021. Very dissapointed with Adobe's performance over the last year.

I don't have a clue why you uninstalled the 15.x/2021 version to begin with. Upgrading any software the first couple days it comes out is ... not wise.

For example, BlackMagic just released 17.4 Resolve, which is a major update in many ways. And works great for many users, while many others simply cannot work in it. Major bugs and changes that blow their workflows out the window.

Wait until there's time for the larger userbase to get comfy with it. Then upgrade your working setup.

And this is from someone who's actually getting quite stable performance in both the 22.x shipping, and the 22.x public beta.

I would not have updated my projects by importing them into 22.x until the app proved stable for my needs on my machine.

I'm holding off on updating Resolve for a couple more weeks at least. Mark Todd Osborne and a couple others are noting the 17.4.1 'patch' released to fix 17.4.0's many issues ... is worse than what it supposedly fixed in their case.

Yet other Resolve users are loving it. Software ... bizarre stuff.

Neil hi.
I discovered today a flaw in the dynamic connection between the created composition in AE and the feedback from Pr. I can't restore the correct color contrast on the effect itself. As if the glow effect is being applied repeatedly. Moreover, everything is normal in the AE composition itself. In the delivery to the timeline in Pr, it looks like this.

Pay attention to the effect of the label appearing. Don't take the background into account, I painted it. At the same time, I noticed that if you remove the painting, the effect is restored to its normal state.

What to do?

I do sincerely hope that no one with paying clients upgrades ever to a new major release without thoroughly testing the new release for stability with their personal workflow. And I don't care what software you use made by what company.

The Adobe apps do allow you to have multiple major versions installed simultaneously, so it makes new releases quite a painless process IF you follow the above. You install the new version and test ... while working all client work in the old version.

BlacMagic's Resolve for instance does not allow you to do this. And with that major setup format they use, of creating the separate database which must track to the version you're using, it ain't simple to move forward or backwards in different versions.

Which is why the colorsts I work with always initially load Resolve updates on a secondary machine, and only update their main working rig when it's stable on the second rig.

BlackMagic just released a Resolve 'dot' update that has wondrous new features, but if like me you actually check the forums ... you see that a lot of users are having complete show-stopper issues with the new release. I'm not updating my working computer until they've posted another 'patch' or two. Won't hurt me a bit, and makes life less painful.

I've got the Adobe video apps for 2018/2019/2020/2022 and the public beta of 2022 loaded on my current working machine. I still have my older computer which has clear back to 2015 ... including (heavy, sad sigh here ... ) ... SpeedGrade installed.

Safety in working processes. Manual saves. Save-as iterative, Save-to another drive, all those things matter. Computers fail. Humans fail. Count on it, and build a workflow that gets past the expected failures with as little muss and pain as possible.

Solution:

  • Uninstall Adobe Apps via Creative Cloud
  • Backup any plugins or presets manually by navigating to the folders and moving/copying elsewhere
  • Run Adobe Cleaner tool and select the option to clean everything
  • Restart
  • Reinstall Creative Cloud and Apps
  • Move back plugins and presets/etc
  • Now it should work

This worked for me on Windows 11

before doing it, try closing all the adobe progs, and kill the undead After Effect process in the task manager. Then the dynamic links work. (I still had crushes on my renders so I reverted to the older versions of Premiere, After effects, and the Encoder.

I was having the same issues this morning. I updated to PP22 and AE22 this morning and I was editing just fine, went to export and it locked up. For the next 4 hours the dynamic link wouldn't work. I tried rebooting, reinstalling, saving as and relinking, nothing worked. I tried going back a version but because I had saved in 22 it wouldn't let me back track. I did however get it to finally work. Not sure what part did it, but I reinstalled 22 for like the 3rd time, deleted my cache and render files from both PP and AE. It was still very slow playback but it at least let me render and export.

Hope that helps some of you out.

For anyone still searching for a solution — I just uninstalled AE/PP/ME 22 and reinstalled AE/PP/ME 21 and the dynamic linking works again.

ATTENTION IMPORTANT: Do not update to version 22, disable automatic updates. With certain configurations there are problems with dynamic links between Premiere and AfterEffects. If the update is already installed, it is mandatory to perform a clean install: Delete all related files, presets, etc. and reinstall the previous versions. Load a project file from the automatic backup. Damage control... (MacPro 2019, BigSur). Waste of time, Adobe!

This is so bad! And something like this happens every year where i have to basically rebuild all my projects or do this annoying dance of versioning and relinking assets, I genuinely have no idea why they need to break backwards compatibility every single time.
