Premiere Pro 23.6 unusably slow on Mac studio M1 Max

I'm working on a Mac Studio M1 Max, 32 gb ram, Monteray 12.6.9 and Premiere Pro is so slow and laggy in 23.6 that it is impossible to use in any way. Every single mouse click or command results in 5 - 10 secs of spinning ball. Random actions happen. Actions as simple as stretching the timeline are impossible. Scrubbing is impossile and nothing plays properly. I'm working on a documentary which is just over an hour long, but not complex, and mostly pro-res proxies with some SD archive. Timeline at 1080/25fps I tried deleting the media cache and removing timecode tracks and text layer with no effect.  I have reverted to 23.5 version and it is much  better. I've been wary of going to Ventura, but would this help with the upgrade?

Cheers

Liza

I'm in the same situation but with a MacBook Pro M3 Max 48GB.
It's very frustrating and absolutely impossbile to edit a 1080p sequence with Premiere Pro v25.0.0.

Every action causes a freeze even after rendering.
What can I do? Is the only way to switch to other softwares?
I attached an example

i found a solution that worked for me: just desable the "spell check" of the subtitles 😛

OMG I think this worked for me. I could never use anything other than 22.6.4 for over a year. Fingers crossed that the spinning wheel of death does not return

on a Mac Studio M1 Max with 64GB RAM and it's a total nightmare. rather simple timeline - as soon as i add a graphic, nested clip or even a layer with jpg, titles.. or simply when working long on a project that first played somewhat ok, it's becoming plain nightmare. slow, sluggish.

what's going on with Premiere and Apple Arm-based chips? have Adobe abondend apple users? i had better experience with my 2017 iMac.

Same issue in February 2024 on Mac Stuidio M2 Ultra 64GB Memory Premier 24.1.0

But I noticed something and I have kind of a wierd temp fix.

So I noticed when enable transmit was on the second and in my case even the 3rd monitor would play the project and scrub perfect.

It was only the Program Window stopping and stuttering.

This fix is this is NOT very ideal BUT for me if I jiggled (moved back and forth) the window resize icon between Program Windown and the Timeline it would play fine. Makes no sense but works for me. FIX THIS ADOBE!!!!!

Premier 24.2.0 update fixed this issue! Thank you Adobe!

Still huge issues with 24.5.0. Every action causes a freeze and then the spinning wheel. This is unacceptable!

So much for the new version. It is even worse that 23.5. You have rendered it unusable!

Have the same problem every action has a delay/ spinning beach ball.  I just want to simply edit adobe.... Mayb test it before pushing  out a update. I am not even using effects just a timeline with cuts... (on a m1 mac 16 gb ram no issues before)

Solution. Revision previous answer. Premiere slowed to almost an unusa level. But after a week it turned out the problem was the new version . Reinstalled previous version all good again . Hope this helps someone I lost a week trying to fix

Same here. Mac Studio M1 64 GB Ram 10C CPU 32C GPU 1TB, have made a lot of videos using Beta over the past year with almost no issues (always running 5 monitors simutaniously). This last update 24.2 is almost unusable. Rendering anything is painfully slow, scrubbing and playback is the same. Currently on macOS Sonoma 14.1.2

Revision this did not work finally . Solution. I worked through all  tips i found on internet.    Copying everything to a new project  has fixed everything in my case.
