Question

Premiere Pro 25.1 not responding

Hi,

I've spent the entire day trying to get Premiere Pro to open and function so I can work on my projects, but nothing seems to be working. The title screen shows up, then freezes, and when I check my Mac's Task Manager, it shows "Premiere Pro (Not Responding)." There's no indication of any background loading happening either.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the application several times, tried older versions, and still get the same result. I've also restarted and shut down my computer multiple times without success.

My system is up to date, and I use Premiere Pro frequently for work, so I'm not sure what's going on. To my knowledge, there’s no error code being generated, or at least I’m not seeing one when it crashes. I’ve submitted several reports to Adobe but haven’t received any response.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, and thank you for the welcome. @Rach McIntire

This has been happening on and off for a couple of weeks now since the update of 25.1, but it usually works again once I uninstall and reinstall it back again, so I don't know why this method stopped working.
So to answer the first question, I would say it is a little bit of both, honestly.
As for my machine, it is a MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023. Chip: Apple M2 Max.

Please feel free to ask questions if you think we can figure this out. I've been stuck working in Capcut for some of these projects.

HI @Megan Matthews ,

Welcome to the forums.  That definitely sounds frustrating.  Did this happen with an update to 25.1 or was it working and suddenly stopped?  Are you on a Windows machine?

We’ll need a bit more info to try to help with your issue. Please see: How do I write a bug report?

I hope we can help you soon.
