Issue

Premiere Pro 26.0 fails to transcribe audible dialogue and displays “No dialogue found” when using MP4 files downloaded from YouTube via a third-party downloader. Audio plays normally, is clearly audible, and is properly assigned as Dialogue.

The issue affects all projects, including newly created projects.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Adobe Premiere Pro 26.0.

  2. Create a new project.

  3. Import an MP4 video downloaded from YouTube using a third-party downloader.

  4. Drag the clip into a sequence.

  5. Confirm:

    • Audio is clearly audible during playback

    • Waveforms are visible

    • Audio meters are active

    • Audio is not muted

  6. Assign the clip in Essential Sound → Dialogue.

  7. Open Text → Transcript panel.

  8. Click Transcribe Sequence.

Expected Result

Premiere Pro should detect spoken dialogue and generate a transcript.

Actual Result

The Transcript panel displays:

“No dialogue found. To enable transcription services, your audio must contain unmuted verbal dialogue.”

This occurs even though:

  • Dialogue is clearly audible

  • Audio meters are moving

  • Waveforms are visible

  • Clip is properly tagged as Dialogue

  • Enhance Speech functions normally

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Version

    GPU Driver Version (Windows Only)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
    Driver Version: 32.0.15.9174

    Video Format

  • Container: MP4

  • Video Codec: H.264

  • Comparative Information

    @MattTheGreat,

Can you post a link to one of the files?

Where do you see “Transcribe Sequence”? A screenshot would help.

If you pick Audio on track instead of Dialogue, what options does it show in the dropdown - Mix and Audio 1 or what?

If you right-click one of the clips in the Project Panel, and pick “Transcribe,” what happens?
