Hi All,

Sorry for the inconvenience. A bug is filed and the issue is under investigation.

Currently, the known workarounds are:

1. If the system is configured with Nvidia card, disable it.

Steps: Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters.

Right click on Nvidia and disable it.

Once done, try to launch Premiere Pro.

2. Revert back to previous version of Premiere Pro.

Steps: Install previous version of your Creative Cloud app

Thanks,

Vidya

I disabled Nvidia for one of my developers and then she was able to use the newest version of Premiere. Since then she's had another Windows 7 update and is receiving the same error again. Has there been a fix? What should I do now?

Hi @all,

As long as I can remember Adobe PPO has never perfect. But it's the best video editing software (far ahead AMC [IMHO] in large of features).

Abode not responsable to the bad conception produced by the computeur manufacturers. Why add two cards (one of which is bad) in same architecture? Only to have a sufficient battery level! On productive laptop? It's really stupid.

Disabling the poor/bad/pitiful graphic card is obligatory way on PC over $1'000. For performance; for restitute; on one or many screens. This is my opinion.

Thank alot.

I know you have added the best workaround (not a fix/solution) so far and are trying to be helpful, but respectfully, in the case of this acknowledged bug by Adobe, you are wrong.

You don't need to believe me, it is in writing elsewhere by an Adobe staffer in this thread: Adobe admits it is a "bug."

Adobe is 100% responsible for delivering a product that works in computer systems that meet their published minimum requirements. Full stop. As Adobe and its employees and shareholders collect our $600/year, they have an ethical and legal obligation to test each release on all systems that meet those requirements before distribution. In this case either they did not test, which is appalling, or did test, knew about the bug, but inflicted it on us anyway, and without notice or warning. Which is beyond unethical. I can't think of any alternative to those binary choices here.

Please, don't attempt to normalize Adobe's behavior or excuse the inexcusable. This is a company that reaped literally billions of dollars last year in profits. Look up their public financial reports. Billions - with a B. And they STILL can't be bothered to list this bug as a known issue on the page with that information for the latest release. < Face Palm > &

Update:  The workaround that I had to implement because my computer tech guy is away until the end of the week:  They suggested that I reinstall the last version that worked.

Not happy but at least I can get some work done.

I am also on a Lenovo laptop on a dock with dual monitors.  Disabling the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M, disables the external dual monitors.

Is there a fix?  I am frustrated with trying to reach support on this issue.  I have been on hold for 45 mins... no one is answering and chat support is not helping either.  Remote access given to support person rendered the answer that I need to contact the manufacturer of the graphic card for the fix.  It appears from the thread here that this is an Adobe issue.

Any advice on a temporary fix that allows me to use the dual monitors and edit in premiere pro would be greatly appreciated.

You guys are missing the fix here. Don't disable the Nvidia card. Go into the BIOS and disable the switching between Intel and Nvidia graphics.

Thanks for clarifying.  I am a newbie when it comes to the system.  May I ask you for step by step on how to:

  • Go into BIOS
  • Disable the switching between Intel and Nvidia graphics

Much appreciated.

Hi @all,

On DELL with dual Nvidia/Intel GC (true with other brands) it's possible to disable the [HIMO] bad Intel Graphic card in the BIOS.

1. Reboot

2. When display the logo press F2 to enter in BIOS

3. Deploying the "switchable video" section

4. Uncheck 'Video switchable'. Validate and restart

In Windows check if you only have Nvidia

6. Win-key + R and at prompt field type 'devmgmt.msc' and press enter. Deploying the video section

If you have only NVIDIA launch PPO, MC, AF. Works very well in CUBA mode

In this mode the PC have best display in all uses but the battery draining quicly

Thank Adobe 8:•)

Well alright! This works. In my HP BIOS it's called "Hybrid Graphics". Disabled it. Had to reboot twice to get everything cleared up and then was prompted to reload latest Nvidia drivers for my card (Quadro K2100). Sent the test project and the media over to OneDrive and opened it on a Mac with no problems.

After Effects, Prelude and Media Encoder all updated and all seeing the Nvidia card and using CUDA acceleration.

I have no idea what the official fix will be or why or when but this is working. And I can't say thank you enough. This brings 3 machines at our joint back into the fold. THANK YOU.

Today is 24 May 2018. This THREAD (not the issue, just this thread) was started Apr 5, 2018 2:06 PM.

No update. No bug fix. But two and soon THREE (3) full monthly billing cycles - aka months have passed.

Adobe (@Adobe) - not a lawyer here - not legal advice - but I feel like you are committing a fraud against me and others affected by this issue. We pay $600/year for a product that does not work as advertised. That you either negligently developed, and, or, tested, and, or, released to users with systems that meet the minimum advertised requirements. Not to mention our lost time either with work lost to crashes, trouble shooting, rollbacks, etc.

How is this classed as answered. None of my Adobe products work after the last update. To solve it i have to use an older version or use software rendering!!!

This is no exaggeration but Adobe make the most bug ridden programs from any dev i know...great products made really really badly.

I used the cracked versions or YEARS without any problems, literally no crashing, no hanging, everything worked well...now since i signed up to the subscription service the software is almost unusable at times...WTF!!!

total crap service from a company this big...

I'm in the same boat. Can't open the program anymore after update on my laptop. Edited a lot in premiere Pro on my Windows 10 Desktop PC the last few days but can't do the same anymore on my windows 7 laptop. I constantly switch between desktop and laptop all the time.

Can't go back to an older version of Premiere Pro because then I can't open the premiere pro files I made with the latest Premiere Pro version. (unless I throw away tons of work)

Disabling NVIDIA card maybe an option but will probably slow down performance noticably. I haven't tried it but this maybe my only option at the moment.

Hoping for a solutions very very soon.

Vidya can you explain why you are suggesting people should revert back to a previous version of Premiere Pro when older versions have been removed from the portal.
