Question

Premiere Pro CC 2018 won't import footage...

I'm trying to import footage through Media Browser and the program freezes half way through importing the file.  Also, the files take a very long time to show up in the Media Browser window.  Suggestions?

also you can check The QuickTime web browser plug-in is no longer installed by default and is removed if you have a previous version of QuickTime on your PC. If you still need this legacy plug-in, you can add it back using the custom setup option in the installer.

Download QuickTime 7.7.9 for Windows

1st check the file formats , is it compatible with adobe premiere or not specially if its compressed with some unsupported codecs .

I fixed my problem.

My project link did not re-link my media. The only way to have premiere linking them was to open each clip through the media browser first

I have the same problem.  I just upgraded to Adobe 2018 yesterday.  All seemed well until today when I tried to import a simple file into a project that is basically done.  It's frozen up and I rebooted and it is still just spinning its wheels.

What is this? I don't get why this is happening and some of the solutions people are offering are not things I understand and can attempt to do.  What? What? What!  I am very frustrated. I was having big glitches with 2017 so I took my computer in, got an upgrade on RAM and graphics card and updated the Adobe software and now this?  Adobe need to help us.  I have a project that is just stuck in limbo.  I don't hear about people using free software having this problem.

I am having exactly same problem, when I try to open video or make new folder premiere will randomly freeze and I have to force the shut down. I haven't had this problem ever before.

I am experiencing the same problem. Premiere Pro 2018 crashes when I try to import footage. I am spending tons of time trying to sort out problems! Other competitors in the market do not have this issue!

I had the same issue, today any time I tried to import footage into my Premier Pro project the program froze. I tried dragging in footage, importing, using media browser... everytime it would freeze and I'd have to quit the program.

I've had issues in the past with Adobe CC having trouble with assets with long file paths... so when I saved my project file and footage onto my desktop, and then imported the footage, it worked!

Many of the issues with PrPro having troubles with importing media are from 1) having the media on say a network drive setup that PrPro isn't comfortable with; 2) having media on external drives connected to the computer with either slow connection (USB2/earlier) or improper permissions; 3) on internal drives with improper permissions; 4) trying to import from media cards on a card reader; 5) drag/drop of spanned media (such as 'large' clip AVCHD) via the Finder/Explorer windows directly onto a project bin.

While there are other times PrPro has messed up this sort of thing, the majority of cases are fixed by looking through the above.

Also worth noting, there is a known bug wherein having Hover Scrub turned on in the Media Browser will crash PP; this has been verified by Adobe Techs in other threads.  So if you're noticing any correlation between scrubbing activity in the Media Browser and application crashes, try turning that off.

After completing a project over 4 weeks without crashing and starting a brand new project this afternoon - Premiere Pro CC is crashing every time I try to import footage.

I reset the user preferences & plugin cache with no resolve to the issue.

Steps:
1) Open import dialogue panel

2) Select folder or clips to import

3) Import starts including a progress bar

4) PP CC crashes with the following warning

[/PPro12.0.1/releases/2017.08/shared/adobe/MediaCore/Backend/Src/Component/ComponentFactory.cpp-71]

Mac OS X 10.12.6
Premiere Pro CC 2018
Mac Pro Late 2013
Processor: 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5RAM: 64GB

Graphics: AMD FirePro D300 2048MB
Audio: Motu M8 thunderbolt
Storage:  Thunderbolt Direct Connect Drobo 5D,  USB3.0 1TB SSD for working footage, USB 3,0 SSD 250 GB for Cache Files

I will attempt a re-install next.

If there are any other suggestions I am all ears.

Many thanks in advance.

Premier Pro cc 2018 isn't importing the video portion of my .mov files, only the audio. I've cleaned the media cache, Media Encoder won't recognize the video either. I'm on a deadline! HELP!

Are you talking about importing into the Project panel, or putting media on a sequence?

It's become my hell too.  Everything was great yesterday, but today this import issues and become a true hell. I can't import MPEG-2 and AVCHD files today trough media browser... Adobe, please, dont release anymore without minimals tests.

Not to minimize your troubles ... as I've been junked by stuff before, of course ... but I'm not having any AVCHD issues at all, nor are many others. Some are. I'm not sure how many gazillion hardware/OS/software/camera-media combos would be necessary to be certain no rig ever had this. But the total number ain't probably that high.

It seems to be more certain types of rigs and/or certain types of media. But figuring out the details is not easy.

So ... what are the specs on your machine, and what about the media being used? PrPro didn't change with any updates between yesterday & today, so something local on your machine and media has to be the issue.

And of course, I hope you're not on Win10 Creators ... which over-rode my setup which doth not allow updates without approval, shut down my computer without warning and installed Creator while I was working! ... which is a crazy mess for pro video apps.

I'm running in a modest Mac Mini, i try in two differents machines, one is a litte better than other. This the setup of the machine I tried for last:

The other machine is:

I know, its not a good setup and i'm not bother with performance issues, i can be patient. Is just this things with AVCHD...

My workaround: i'm now using ffmpeg to encode all my files to proress and then linking the new files. I do a test with one and seems like it will work.
