Premiere Pro Dark Lighting Effect Ruining Video Quality

When I put an image sequence into premiere it automatically turns the image darks and highly saturated whichmeans in some of my clips i can't even see anything? Does anyone know how to stop this? when i go to edit my clips it looks as though none of the effects have bene used and when i try toturn down the contrast etc it just looks really bad and unprofessional. Please find the before and after images.
