Extremely Disappointed by Adobe Dropping Windows 10 Support

I am extremely disappointed with Adobe's decision to drop Windows 10 support for the latest versions of Premiere Pro.

When I purchased my annual Creative Cloud subscription, there was no clear indication that support for Windows 10 would be ending during my subscription period. Had I known that, I would have reconsidered committing to a full year.

What makes this even more frustrating is that Windows 10 is still a supported operating system by Microsoft and continues to receive security updates. There are millions of users who are intentionally staying on Windows 10 because their hardware is not compatible with Windows 11, because they prefer its stability, or because upgrading is simply not practical.

In a professional environment, changing the operating system is not a trivial decision. It requires planning, testing, and ensuring compatibility with existing hardware, drivers, plug-ins, and other production software. Expecting professionals to upgrade their operating system simply because Premiere Pro no longer supports an OS that is still officially maintained and receiving long-term security updates is, in my opinion, unreasonable.

It feels like paying customers are being forced to upgrade their operating system or even replace perfectly functional hardware just to continue using software they have already paid for.

I understand that Adobe cannot support older operating systems forever. However, dropping support while Windows 10 is still officially maintained by Microsoft seems premature, especially without clearer communication before customers purchase or renew annual subscriptions.

I hope Adobe reconsiders this decision or, at the very least, provides more transparency about operating system support so customers can make informed purchasing decisions before committing to a yearly plan.

lol Respectfully this is a load of bs. I love how Adobe can just take money from folks once they opt in for the year and then dump this news on them. Adobe lately has been non-consumer friendly. I’ve been with them for well over a decade, as I’m a video editor and use a ton of these programs for my work.

However, with all of this I will now need to consider using a different editing program. Very disappointed in you Adobe.

Other apps are also dropping Win 10 support, as is normal customary and expected.

So Adobe is well within the ‘mainstream’ of software policies.

How many apps support Win7 now? Yea. Personally, I liked some of the macro things we could do in Win 3.11 and haven’t really been able to do since then.

FWIW: I don’t buy the idea that Windows 10 is superior or more stable. This ‘feeling’ I believe stems from vested interests on the web. And as for customizing…. I explained to a friend how I configure my computers… and I make Win11, work like my Win10 did, which actually worked like my Win7 and before it XP, so he says, ‘oh, so your configuring a new Win XP machine’. Yeah, basically. And doesn’t take much.

ExplorerPatcher takes care of a lot of it, great utility and the key to most of the changes.

Open-Shell Menu - Get a Win whatever type of main menu, screenshot of mine below,

Then using apps like the Ultimate Windows Tweaker and Winaero Tweaker, you’re all set. Very easy, and IMO removes any reason not to move to Win11 (save of course for hardware issues).

La mayoria de los usuarios de Adobe en PC tenemos windows 10 precisamente por su estabilidad, y por el manejo y seguridad de nuestros archivos, no es un tema de falta de capacidad de nuestras computadoras, sino de seguridad en el sistema operativo que usamos, ya que microsoft nos obligue a actualizar a un sistema inestable es frustrante, pero que encima nuestra principal herramienta de trabajo empiece a bloquear las actualizaciones a futuras mejoras sin CONSULTAR a sus usuarios sobre ese cambio es TREMENDO porque hay escuelas, universidades, alumnos, docentes y profesionales que no podrán seguir usando las aplicaciones de ADOBE por este problema, ustedes consideraron esto?

Creen que vamos a arriesgar la seguridad de nuestros archivos para modernizar a windows 11?
Realmente van a dejar afuera a todos los usuarios que tenemos windows 10 y PAGAMOS la suscripción por algo que ya no nos dan...¿Que clase de servicio están dando entonces? NO el que prometieron!

Me too. Seems like a bait and switch to me. Auto locking people into annual contracts with no clear sign or indication then removing support at random during an update. Paying to much for this system. I have started exploring alternatives. Been with Adobe since 2001. Oh well - They probably won’t learn until they are totally drained of resources to make any meaningful changes to the leadership. This is how death happens to these companies…. 🤷🏽

As a long time computer user in our business, this kind of thing Is frustrating certainly. But I don’t know of any other major app of any kind that continues support to dead OS’s. None.

And I’ve got a drawer I keep for ‘laughs’ … all the dead apps that we’ve used over the years that were MAJOR apps for awhile then simply … went buh-bye. dBase anyone? Changes in programs and OSs and all are simply inevitable, and I frequently don’t like the change. But that’s Life as a professional in computer based work.

And the few stand-alone purchase apps still out there make it clear they do not support previous versions of their apps on dead OS’s … once an OS is gone, everyone ends any updates, security or otherwise, for their apps on that OS. There might be one, but I’ve not heard of it. Nor used it.

What ANNOYS me is that Adobe didn’t warn us when we went to install this update. Now I’m stuck with this system incompatilibty pop-up. Just let me accept the risk and stop perstering me about it like a child every time I start the program. It’s not like Premiere crashing is a NEW thing lol.

Definitely reverting back to an older version.

I’d like Adobe to keep up the support to at least match what Microsoft is offering for the OS.

Honestly, I love Windows 10 and I don’t want to use 11; the 11 UI is frustrating to me with the lost customization. Furthermore, my computer is a beast, but the processor is just one unit down from what Windows 11 supports. I am almost wanting to switch to Linux and ditch MS and Adobe entirely. In fact, Stat Counter just noted that Windows market share dropped below 60% globally, and Linux is ticking upwards, so it might be worth thinking about offering Adobe CC to Linux.

Currently, there is a RAM shortage because of AI, so for people across the board, it doesn’t make sense to throw away their functional workhorse computers when the OS is still supported by MS.

This is making me really miss the ability to buy software, for example Premiere, and keep that stable license forever working on the OS it was purchased for.
