Extremely Disappointed by Adobe Dropping Windows 10 Support

I am extremely disappointed with Adobe's decision to drop Windows 10 support for the latest versions of Premiere Pro.

When I purchased my annual Creative Cloud subscription, there was no clear indication that support for Windows 10 would be ending during my subscription period. Had I known that, I would have reconsidered committing to a full year.

What makes this even more frustrating is that Windows 10 is still a supported operating system by Microsoft and continues to receive security updates. There are millions of users who are intentionally staying on Windows 10 because their hardware is not compatible with Windows 11, because they prefer its stability, or because upgrading is simply not practical.

In a professional environment, changing the operating system is not a trivial decision. It requires planning, testing, and ensuring compatibility with existing hardware, drivers, plug-ins, and other production software. Expecting professionals to upgrade their operating system simply because Premiere Pro no longer supports an OS that is still officially maintained and receiving long-term security updates is, in my opinion, unreasonable.

It feels like paying customers are being forced to upgrade their operating system or even replace perfectly functional hardware just to continue using software they have already paid for.

I understand that Adobe cannot support older operating systems forever. However, dropping support while Windows 10 is still officially maintained by Microsoft seems premature, especially without clearer communication before customers purchase or renew annual subscriptions.

I hope Adobe reconsiders this decision or, at the very least, provides more transparency about operating system support so customers can make informed purchasing decisions before committing to a yearly plan.

Is anyone else in the same situation?

Yes, just say the same thing. Its completely insane, considering how atrocuious Microsoft have behaved with Windows 11. Im on windows 10 with a 0patch license and i have no intentions of switching until we can convert everything onto Linux with VMs and than in the future just pure Linux. I guess they just make the incentive to go all in on Resolve much easier.

You think BlackMagic will support a dead OS?  Not expecting it … and in fact, most companies do not support use of their products on a dead OS. Which is a pain for many of us as we still have working, usable rigs that can’t take the new OS.

With Adobe the specific issue is the lack of being able to get now a prior version that will work on the older machine. Sometimes a call to their Help system can get authorization for such a download. Sometimes ….

    Here is the issue:

Free feature support has already ended permanently as of October 2025, and will never be brought back. And the extended support only applies to those who are purchasing or have already purchased the Extended Security Update plan, which does not cover feature updates at all—only security updates. Plus, newer versions of Premiere now require the use of features that does not function properly in Windows 10, and cannot be circumvented at all without crashing the program. Therefore, Adobe support for Windows 10 must have ended for all newer major version releases if older OSes are no longer receiving free mainstream support.

So, They gave no indication or warning. They just updated users to new versions with known compatibility issues…
