Question

Premiere project file keeps disappearing!

I'm a long time user of Adobe Cloud. I've been editing videos for years and have not had the issue where my project file is just removed. This has been happening ever since version 23 has come out. When I save, it automatically puts my saved work into the auto save, at first I had to figure that out and I found the project file. I then saved my work in another folder.

The file was there after I closed the program, but when I came back the next day, it was gone!

I'm very frustrated with this, as I'm not worried about doing a ton of work only for it to go to waste. I've edited projects multiple times only to come back the next day to find that I'm 20 steps back again.

Please help!

Hello @aarong40079571,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a long time since you filed this bug. I apologize for the lack of a response. Are you still having this issue? The team will need more info from you to reproduce the bug. Can you provide the information required here? How do I write a bug report?

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks! If I'm doing something wrong that would be helpful to know lol. But this is an ongoing issue.

I have a very important project coming up, and I want to use the most recent Premiere version for it. But I'm not feeling super confident with this issue still being a problem

Hi Aaron,

I am bumping the thread to see if you had any new info to provide. I am still trying to get some attention to this bug. No luck yet. I hope we can get a reproducible case going, however. Upvotes from those experiencing the same behavior have not surfaced yet, but I'll move them here if I see something similar.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thank you for the detailed reply. Looks very troubling. I hope the Premiere Pro team can get to the bottom of this bug ASAP.

Thanks for the reply

-Issue: Mentioned above

-Adobe Premiere Pro 23.0.0

-Windows 10 64 Bit

-Steps to Reproduce: Load up Premiere Pro, create new project, select media, title project name, create folder, hit "create". I edit a few things so I can tell that somethings been done. I save the project and close it. I go to the folder where I saved the project file, and it is not there. Adobe moved the file into the auto save folder, even though I double checked that I did not ask for it to be put there. In this example, I titled the project "test"

This pic shows the "Test" file does not exist where I put it

This picture shows the file showing in the auto save folder

When I come back later, if there is a version saved, its not the latest, and I've lost a lot of work
-Expected Result - the most recent version of my project should have been saved and accessible in the folder I originally set it up

-Actual Result - my project file is missing and I've lost work. The auto save never has my most recent work.

Hopefully that helps! Would be thrilled to have this fixed!

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for filing the issue. The developers of Premiere Pro need more info to assist.

Use the template below to provide devs with information:

  • Issue - A short description of the problem.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: FAQ: How to find the exact version of Premiere Pro you're using?
  • Operating system - Windows or macOS, and which version of those operating systems?
  • Steps to reproduce - The steps we should follow to show us the issue you are seeing.
  • Expected result - What should have happened after the last step?
  • Actual result -  What did happen after the previous step?

Optional but helpful: upload media and (or) project files, screenshots, or screen recordings demonstrating the issue.

Thanks,

Kevin
