"real time" editing during playback... pauses playback?
Recently update to Premiere 25.0.0 (Build 61, Mac OS 14.6.1), though I don't know if this is a brand new issue or not...
CONTEXT: When pulling selects from raw footage, I usually edit while the playhead is playing back. Clipping things out, and moving those selected clips up to track 2.
PROBLEM: This sort of basic "cut -> cut -> move up" during playback sometimes pauses the playhead. It doesn't always pause it, but it did consistently for a while. Then stopped doign it. Inconsistent. In any event, I don't remember this happening before. And it would seem that Premiere 25.0.0 is behaving differently than my muscle memory is used to.
My understanding is that playback should continue, and that real time editing has been the norm for many years now. That said, I am not sure the extend to which that is true, or what conditions, if any, are supposed to pause the playhead, even during "real time" editing.
For what it's worth it is 10 bit 5.8k 4:3 HEVC LongGOP footage (so, pretty chunky), and on a UHD 16:9 timeline no less. HOWEVR... it is also proxied into Pro Res proxy and playback is quite smooth, so... not sure what the deal is.
Any ideas? Or anyone experiencing similar disurbance to "real time" editing workflows?
Thanks!
EDIT: It seems to be related to when the playhead auto-selects the new clip at the playhead, then it also stops the playhead. But if you somehow get the the clip you're interacting with to remain selected, and NOT the clip at the playhead, then the playhead will keep advancing...
