SCC sidecar file export does not maintain the timecode from the timeline.

At somepint between version 22 and 23 I have noticed that what you export out a sidecar SCC caption file either on its own or as part of a media export the timecode on the caption file does not maintain the timecode from the prject.  This has not always been the case. Im on mac OS Sonoma and have upgraded to the most recent versio fo premiere hoping the issue had gone away but it has not.   The file that gets exported maintains the timecode from the timeline but not the caption file.

 

The ony workaround I can find is if I send the proeject to Media Econder and output form there the SCC file has the same timecode as the timeline.

 

Anybody else notice the same issue or could suggest somethign that I may be doing wrong?

    Hi @Dan WR,

     

    thank you for reporting this and giving so much detail.

    I followed your steps closely but I'm not able to reproduce the bug on my end using a Mac with the 24.2.1 release version and 24.4 beta version. Does this only happen to a specific file that you are using or can you reproduce this with multiple files that have a custom timecode?

    It might be helpful if you're able to send me the caption and media files that you were using. I could try again to see if this is media specific (and the reason why Stan and I don't see it).

      Can anyone help explain this? The difference in PR export and AME certainly points to a bug.

      I’m working with external finished files both pro res and SCC caption files.

       

      I import the pro res master and the SCC caption file. My pro res master starts at 09:59:30:00.  My original caption is 01hourtimecode.  My Sequence was created by New Sequence then setting sequence timecode to match the timecode of the master.  I bring the SCC into my timeline and sync it up with the dialogue. I then export either just the caption side car and the SCC caption file is 0 hour.  I export with a pro res and a sidecar SCC file and the SCC file is 0 hour. 

       

      If I send the file to Media Encoder exporting out a video file and an SCC sidecar caption the caption file is now at the 10 hour timecode and syncs with my original pro res master.

      @Dan WR,

       

      I am testing 24.2.1 on Win 10. have a 3 minute clip, with a sequence created by dragging the clip to the new icon. I transcribe the clip and create 608 captions from it. The first caption occurs at 01:06 (01:00:01:06 with the changed start time).

       

      I right-click the 3 line menu in the Sequence tab and changed the sequence start time to 01:00:00:00. The caption times in the Text panel/Captions tab show the new times, whether I created the captions before or after I changed the start time.

       

      I exported SRT from the captions tab and opened it in a text editor. The one-hour start time is shown.

       

      I exported as H.264 from PR with captions set to sidecar/scc. I opened the scc in Subtitle Edit (it shows the hour in the timecodes) and reimported the scc to the PR sequence (the times match with a few exceptions).

       

      I did not test in AME.

       

      Other than the Win/Mac difference, what other differences are there between my test and your workflow? For example, are you setting the sequence time from the clip time? Are using PR 24.2.1 for your most recent test?

      I have what I need. I plan to test this. If it does not work in direct PR export, but does in AME, that suggests a bug in PR.

      Hi Stan, I'm woring with 608-1.

       

      I updated Premier to 24.2.1 and still an issue. The captiosn are corret timcode just instead of starting being 01:00:56:00 where it shoud start its starting at 00:00:56:00.
