I'm having a problem where Premiere Pro 25.0 constanty crashing when I'm scrolling through my timeline of XAVC HS 4K clips. It works fine when playing, but whenever I start scrolling through a clip it suddenly crashes without showing an error or crash message. I checked my reports folder and there's nothing in there. I included a video to show exactly what happens.

My specs:

Intel 13900k

Geforce RTX 4090

128GB DDR4

I have the latest Nvidia studio driver installed and I don't have any plug-ins running. Any advice?

Hi @hbhb26662791mq51,

There were fixes made for XAVC 10-bit 4:2:2 footage in Premiere Pro Beta 25.2. Can you install it and see if the situation is any better?

Thanks,

Kevin

I rolled back to 561.09 and it still crashes the same way exactly. I'm seriously considering switching my video editing software because this is completely unworkable.

Hi @hbhb26662791mq51 - thank you for the video.  I am seeing reports of a lot of issues with Nvidia drivers lately.  Can you try rolling back to 561.09 and see if that helps.

Issue: Premiere Sudedeenly crashes when scrolling through the sequence timeline that has multiple 4k clips

Adobe Premiere Pro version number: 25.0 build 61

OS: Windows 11 23h2

System info:

Intel core i9-13900k

Geforce RTX 4090 Studio driver 565.90

128GB DDR4

Samsung SSD 980 Pro

Video Format: XAVC HS 4k 100M 4:2:2 10bit

Workflow details: Imported clips and created sequence that included 3-6 clips

Steps to reproduce: 1.Added a few clips to the sequence at least 3 clips(average of 10 minutes each)

2. Scroll back and forth throught the timeline by dragging the cursor and quickly moving to left or right

Expected result: I can preview the clips without crashing

Actual result: Premiere suddenly crashes with no message showing up or crash report in reports folder. Task manager shows CPU usage hit a 100% before Premiere crashes.

I just checked task manager, and CPU usage shoots up to 100% whenever I scroll through the timeline. Anyway to prevent that from happening?
