Question

Source monitor takes ages (like 10 secs) to refresh after editing clip into timeline.

I noticed this issue appear in the later releases of PP2023. When editing from source footage, in the source monitor, into the timeline and switching back to the source to scrub through the footage, the picture in the source freezes for a while. When you're going through rushes looking for selects this slows things down considerably and almost makes the software unusable. I was hoping that the release of PP2024, with it's promise of 4x faster editing, would have resloved the issue but it's still present. I'm editing on a M1 Max Mac Studio with HD footage on a usb-c SSD.

Hi @Kevin-Monahan , I'm not using Transmit. Just one monitot. Thanks.

@izzaack,

Devs wanted to know:if you are using Transmit or not. If so, how do you have upscaling and downscaling set up on your Transmit device?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi @izzaack,
We are still waiting to hear back from the developers. @31728422 - have you seen the sample processes that were forwarded to @Mike-Berry yet? Cheers!

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello @izzaack,

Sorry for the delay in helping you debug this problem. Can you try the following troubleshooting steps?

  1. Choose Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 > Settings.
  2. Choose Audio Hardware.
  3. Set the Default input to "No Input."

Is the playback normal again? Please let me know. I hope that you will have better playback after trying those steps. Please let me know if not, and I will resolve this issue. I hope we can help you resolve this problem soon. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi @Kevin-Monahan I sent over those files a month or so ago. Did you get to look at them? I have just installed 2025 and get the same source monitor lag. I REALLY want to put this problem behind me so any ideas would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks,

Isaac.

What is the best way to share the process sample file?
