Spinning wheel of death

Hello,

I recently started getting the spinning wheel of death when using Premiere.  I'm editing a simple HD slide show. It's a very small project. I'm on a MacBook Pro with 32 GB of RAM.

I've tried all of the potential fixes - clearing cache, closing open apps, allocating more RAM to my computer, etc.

when it starts, I'm unable to force quit. My computer then freezes and restarts automatically.

The only other thing I can think of is that I recently updated to Sequoia 15.5. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Jamie, it looks like it's working now. I was able to ripple edit the rest of the slide show and no wheel! Thank you so much for your help! So, it looks like when I changed the Default Input in Audio Hardware to No Input, it worked. Do you happen to know why that would affect the editing process?

Hi, Could you post screen shots of:
“Preferences>Audio Hardware…”

“Preferences>Media Cache…”

And,

“Preferences>playback….”

So the Premiere team can see if this situation can be recreated?

Hey Adobe team, I'm having the same issue with the trim tool.  I've cleared the media & transcription check boxes, put audio input to "no input" and have tried all the usual things.  Any thoughts?

The system is otherwise snappy - Mac Studio M2 Ultra, 64GB RAM, OS 15.6.1 and Premiere 25.2.3, Using Productions with Lucid Link.

Hi D Graham Withers,

Sorry to hear about this. Is this happening specifically with the Trim tool or other tools as well? Also, have you tried the latest version of Pr (v25.5) to check if it's working properly?

Thanks,

Sumeet

I'm working with mostly jpeg stills and .mov short video clips. All 1920 x 1080. Nothing is checked in Media Analasys and Transcription and I made the default No Input in Audio Hardware. I'll let you know if that helps. Thank you!

Hi @Stohler - What type of media are you working with?

Can you navigate to your settings under Media Analysis & Transcription and uncheck everything let me know if that helps your issue.

Can you check your audio hardware settings and make sure Default Input is set to "No Input"

Thanks, Jamie. I have the 2025 version of Premiere Pro. I do not have any third party plug-ins. My MacBook Pro has a 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9. Graphics is an AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Memory Startup disk is Macintosh HD macOS is Sequoia 15.5. The spinning wheel comes on specifcally when I'm trying to trim (ripple edit) clips in my slideshow. Please let me know if you need more details.
