Issue: Text keeps bugging and sometimes crashing Premiere 2026 when trying to edit the Font (any Font) or Font Size. Sometimes the Text flickers & disappears in the Project/Source Monitor when said changes are made, sometimes the whole program freezes & crashes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Project

2. Create Text Layer in Sequence with Text Tool OR edit coped & pasted Text Layer

3. Click on Textbox within viewing monitor to edit or start typing text

4. Type Text

5. Select Text

6. Select search in Attributes Window (OR change font size)

7. Search any Font name

Expected result: Text changes into selected font/size.

Actual result: Premiere Freezes or Text flickers & dissappears.

Adobe Premiere Pro version: 26.0.1

Operating system: Mac Studio 2025, Apple M3 Ultra, MacOS 26.3

Comparative information:

It affects all Projects converted into latest version and newly created ones.

Problem began with the 26.0 Version, got worse with the 26.0.1.

UPDATE:

Have done steps provided by @jamieclarke and it worked fine after that. Tested again with third Party Plug Ins and still worked. I have no Idea why it didn’t before, have restored my workspace to before and text tool now works fine again.

Additionally, my colleague also works with the 26.0.1 Version on Mac, but with an older Macbook, always worked fine for him.

Thanks for the help!

Hi @Fahrschul Akademie -   Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.  Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Do you have any third party panels or plugins installed?

Can you try and hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the box
"Reset app preferences" (Backup Preferences first)

“Clear media cache files”

“Reset plugin loading cache”

Disable third-party plugins (one-time only)

@Fahrschul Akademie,

Thanks for the detailed steps and screen recording. That is very helpful.

I’ll just note that I do not see this with 26.0.1 on Win 11.

Do you get the same result if you make your adjustments in the Properties panel?

Have you tried resetting preferences? (if you have not, wait for other responses.)

Some Mac/text issues have been font related. I recall similar issues in recent versions, but I can’t find the threads at the moment.
