Tool Tips, New Item Button, & Workspaces Buttons not working in Premiere 2025

When you hover over a tool, the tool tips does not show up.  When you click on the Workspaces or New Item buttons, the menu pops up for a moment, but goes away before you can select anything.  Here are some steps I have tried:

  1. Made sure Tool Tips was enabled in the Preferences > General menu
  2. Reset preferences
  3. Disabled third-party plugins
  4. Changed to OpenCL, and Software Only for graphics
  5. Updated graphics card drivers
  6. Uninstalled and reinstalled earlier versions of 2025

When I install Premiere Pro 2024, they all work fine.  I am a teacher with a computer lab and this happens on all of the computers.  Very frustrating.

I finally figured out what was causing the problem.  We use a classroom management program called Veyon.  The latest version was causing this conflict and preventing the menus from staying open.  As soon as I reverted back to an older version of the Veyon software, the problem went away.  I appreciate you working with me trying to solve this problem.

Hi @tjkohlbrenner - Can you go to this web page: https://www.adobe.com/about-adobe/contact.html In the lower right corner, begin a chat with Adobe Support and explain that you would like to be routed to the video queue. This action will allow you to reach the specialists for Premiere Pro. Let me know if you have trouble opening a case. Take note of the case number. You can message me if you hit any roadblocks.

Just wondering if you had any other suggestions.  Premiere Pro 2025 is basically unusable for my and my students.  We can't use any of the black menus in the program.  The panel menus work fine, as well as the menus on the Menu bar.  Even the settings menu on the Project and Source monitors works fine.  It's only the menus that pop up black.  This includes choosing location when you start a project, the New Item button, the settings menu on the Timeline, and more.  Actually, you can choose a font, but if you click the Font Style menu, it closes before you can select anything.  It's basically unusable.

Sorry, I meant no Control surfaces.

No color surfaces.  My computer has mouse software, but all of the student computers have nothing extra installed.  This happens on all computers in the lab.

Hi @tjkohlbrenner - Do you have any control surfaces or mouse software installed on the system?

Just tried it.  I first disabled the integrated gpu, restarted Premiere and the problem persisted.  I then re-enabled the igpu and disabled the NVIDIA card.  The problem persists.

Hi @tjkohlbrenner - To isolate if it is a GPU issue can you navigate to Device Manager > Displays and then disable your integrated (iGPU) or dedicated GPU (dGPU) one at a time.

It does have an igpu - its the Intel UHD Graphics 770

Other specs

  • Processor:  13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700 2.10 GHz
  • RAM:  32.0 GB (31.6 GB usable)
  • Operating system and apps installed on internal SSD
  • Secondary drive is not SSD but has 1 TB of storage

What else do you need to know?

Hi @tjkohlbrenner - What are your computer specs?  Do you also have an iGPU?
