Why can I render from the Project window in the 2025 example?

Hi. Why can I render from the Project window in the 2025 example? Let me explain in more detail: if you're editing in a sequence but accidentally click on any file in the Project window before exporting, the selected file is exported, not the selected area in the sequence. Furthermore, if you accidentally select a file in the Project window, the working sequence will appear in the Export window with the selected input and output. This is a bug; it shouldn't be like this.

Hi iki_iki1664,

The File > Export command determines the source for exporting based on the currently selected item. If the Project panel is in focus & a media or a sequence in the Project panel is highlighted, that item will be used for the export. If another panel is in focus, it will use the currently active timeline for the export. If you would like to export the sequence, please ensure that the timeline is highlighted or the sequence is selected in the Project panel before performing the Export command. Hope it helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I realized that after exporting dozens of files and sending the wrong ones to the client. The question was: why export from the project window? This feature in Premiere Pro is incorrect and should be removed.

There are many reasons one needs to export from the Project window ... so a ton of users would be totally gassed and ticked off if that was removed. Including myself.

Care at not clicking outta the place you want selected is just derigeur in this ... or in Resolve, also.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

This is the way it works and is expected. I always check that the timeline i intend to export is active before i export to avoid this mistake.
