Question

Why oh why do you break UI things that work perfectly in new versions?? Source Patch settings reset

In all previous versions of premiere, if you set the source patch for inserts and overwrites to on or off and set to specific tracks, when switching sequences or video files, and then going back to the sequence and files you set those source patch settings to, Premiere used to remember these source patch settings.  In the new version of Premiere (Version 24.5.0 Build 57), this is not the case.  I must now reset my source patch settings on a sequence constantly.  This is completely inefficient workflow.  If I turn off the audio tracks in source patching for insert and overwrite on a sequence, for specific files, this means I WANT them off!  Do not reset them back to default on me.  Why oh why would you make the default functionality now reset source patch settings all the time for no reason?!

Hi @Friendly_nature1587 - I just tested with growing files and I still can't reproduce your issue.  Could you try backing up your current settings and starting with blank settings? This will help determine if something in your settings may have become corrupted.

Can you create a screenrecording when you can?

I believe this is because it happens when using "continuously growing files".  My theory is that when you are editing off of continuously growing files that are actively reloading as they grow in length, the source patch settings for your sequences get reset every time the file reloads.

I do have shortcuts set to move the source patch tracks to specific target tracks, and turn them on or off.  Resetting premiere does not solve this.

Hi @Friendly_nature1587 - I'm not seeing this issue on 24.5 or 25.1 in my brief testing.  Do you have any shortcuts saved as source patch presets?  Have you tried holding down "Shift" while opening premiere pro and select the checkbox "Reset app prefernces"

Please let us know if these help you.  If not it would be great to get reproducible steps. or a screen recording.

Step 1:  move the audio source a1 patch to another track like a4.

Step 2: disable audio source a1 patch.

Step 3: do other things in premiere for 10-30 min.

Step 4: go back and look at that sequence and see the source patch for A1 has reset to on and targeting A1 sequence track.

I cannot try a different version of premiere as this is a work computer.  My corporate IT does not update premiere versions except once every 3 years.

Hi @Friendly_nature1587 -
Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.
Please see, How do I write a bug report?
Can you try the latest version 25.1 of Premiere Pro.
Sorry for the frustration.

I believe this is related to continually growing files.  Every time a continually growing file reloads, it resets the source patch settings for your sequences with that continually growing file.  This should not reset those settings at all.
