iPhone 16 4k or cinematic videos not compatible with Premiere Rush

Hi,

I just got the new IPhone 16 and I started filming 4k videos or cinematic videos. Once I upload them to Premiere Rush it shows Media import error. It says unsupported media type. 1 of 1 media could not be imported.

 

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    I simply turned off Spatial Audio and that seemed to resolve it...even with 4K resolutions. 
    Go to settings/camera and tap on Record Sound and switch from Spatial Audio to Stereo.

    For those who are trying to add videos already taken to Premiere Rush, rather than importing it to your desktop and opening Media Encoder and getting a washed out export -- add the video to your Instagram Story and click save. It will export the video matching the color settings and changes the spacial audio issue. Hope this helps for those just using mobile devices.

    "Not supported." We certainly pay Adobe enough to have this be supported. Without the ability to edit a 24 frame rate, the app is useless to me. Bad form, Adobe.

    So 7 months after this post, Adobe still doesn't have a solution to a growing problem? This solution and others are exactly what we're all paying for. Please give us the basic service of editing our videos from the most standard phones in the world. Pretty simple. Thank you.

      Import them into the clips app and save them again. They import perfect after that.

        i cannot believe that an app like capcut can support every iPhone video, and a colossal compny like adobe has not resolved this yet!

          • Shut off HDR and spatial audio in your camera settings, and your clips should work with Rush.
          • If anyone could send me a test clip with those options off, I'd appreciate it. I'll send it to the team.

          Hello Community,

          Try this: Go to  Settings > Camera > Record Video, and disable HDR Video and Spatial Audio. Rush should then work fine for you.

          Hello Community,
          I apologize for the continued lack of support for the current iPhone's HDR, HLG, or cinematic mode video files. I tried a test file and had the same results. You can use Media Encoder to transcode the files to H.264, and that works. Freeware Shutter Encoder can also be used to transcode the files to H.264 or your editing codec of choice. I tried both of these methods, and they work great. I hope the advice helps. 

I don't have an iPhone to test with, but I would be checking the camera settings to see if you can shoot without HDR video. Then we'd be back in business.
           
          Edit: The Rush team said that it is possible to shoot standard HEVC or H.264 video, which works with Rush. On your iPhone, choose Settings > Camera > Record Video, and disable HDR Video and Spatial Audio. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

          Rush is really great when it works, but "when it works" seems to always be in question. It's simply not a reliable program if you need something that you can depend on. I've been a paying user for 3 years now and each time I go to work on a video I never know if it'll work like it's supposed to OR if I'll have problems. More often than not, I have problems. It's time for me to move on to something more dependable, so Inwill not be renewing my subscription. It's just too bad, I have really gotten good at using it.  Very disappointing.

          Everything should work fine as long as you shoot ordinary H.264 video, not HDR HEVC and that you disable HDR Video and Spatial Audio. Let me know if you have any other issues.

          This is also happening to me but with my iPhone 14. Cinematic videos won't load. This is after i updated the rush app.

          Cinematic clips are not supported. Sorry about that. You can turn off those settings along with Spatial Audio in Camera Settings on the iOS device, and the clips should work OK.
