Questions on customizing Frameless Skin / Layout

I'm using a copy of the Studio Skin (Layout) and am trying to learn how to customize all the components on the page. I've got colors, Header Links and logo done. We're not using the "tiles" (with Home Page); only the Topic Page.

I'm a little unclear on the Topic Page Buttons. In the frameless Layout, I see: Expand/Collapse All, Saved, Filter, Select Bookmark, Download PDF, and Search.

- The Skin Preview shows: Expand/Collapse All, Favorites, and Filter.

- My output shows: Expand/Collapse All, Favorites, and Select Bookmark.

If the Expand/Collapse All only applies to expanding text in a topic, and we don't use those, what's the best way to remove it? I saw some issues in post 'Frameless skin - Topic page buttons' and I want to be sure before I mess things up before an upcoming software release.

How can I see or see/learn more about the Filter and other items?

Do I need to select the [Layout | General] GDPR Compliance button? Is that necessary only if using Favorites and Select Bookmark?

Thanks in advance!

In that case it's one for Support.See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

In the first project add a new copy of Studio with a slightly different name. See if that exports and imports.

No, I get the same error. I created a new frameless Skin, renamed/saved it to a folder. Then, opened the other project and Import Skin. I get the same Error: Importing skin from different RoboHelp version is not supported. Upgrade the skin to current RoboHelp version and try again.

    Hi,

This issue has been fixed with RoboHelp 2022 release. Please have a look.

In 2020, you can copy/paste the entire skin folder in ...projectfolder> publish> skins folder and it should work fine.

    Thanks and Regards,

To be clear, a lot of these behind the scenes changes will work OK but sometimes they don't update something they should.

If you want to do things outside the correct way, that's your call. Sometimes things look OK doing that and a while later you realise it wasn't.

It's not difficult or time consuming to export > save > import so why risk it?

Maybe doing something by the back door caused you TOC sync issue?

Ok, I tried exporting the Skin from project A to a folder (Ternion-frameless.skz) then attempted to Import the Skin browsing to the file to project B.

I get: Error - Importing skin from different RoboHelp version is not supported. Upgrade the skin to current RoboHelp version and try again.

How do I update the Skin? It's a copy of Studio.

All my RoboHelp projects are using the latest version 020.8.34.

I then copied the entire Skin folder to the project (C:\Development\doc-procedures-git\publish\skins\Ternion-frameless), opened the projects, and it generated fine.

To learn your way around the skin editor you need to create a dummy project and play around with your skin there.

From your main project, export the skin to a temporary location and then import it into the dummy project. I also suggest that everytime you get the skin doing something you want, you duplicate it. That way if you mess up the next stage, you can go back to a good copy.

Some of the buttons only appear when the feature is used so this example with the Filter button is perhaps not the best. For anything that does appear that you don't want, you have to find it in the skin and some of the names are not intuitive. However, when you click on something, it gets highlighted with a red border. Then you go to the Properties and set Display to None.

RoboHelp's Favourites and Bookmarks do not use Cookies so you don't need it from that point of view. I can't help you with when you would.

Ok, I'll play around with a test project. Once I have what I need, can't I just copy the changed files (repo shows red) or the entire Skin folder (<project>\publish\skins\Ternion-frameless) to my other projects without export/import? I did that yesterday and it was fine.
