RH2022 unmerge RH2019 project

Hello,

I follow these steps: create a project in RH2022.

in contents 'import folder' and designate an already migrated ex RH2019 project

All topics including toc are migrated to the content folder.

I want to do this for more than 30 subprojects

How can I import the the toc of the newly imported 'ex' subproject?

Tried to click and drag the toc from the content dir to the toc of the main project.  a separte toc is shown in the project toc overview, but it is not visible in the output it only shows xml style text.

In fact this toc should become a section in the original first toc of the main rh2022 project. When I transform the created subtoc in a section, the title appears, but the content of the toc vanishes.

Tried to create a new section and insert childproject toc, but section remains empty in output (frameless).

this last setting results in showing 'aan de slag ' in the menu. but the not the content of aandeslag01

when I insert a toc child project, there is no menupoint to convert to section.

Actually the only route I see is to manually create the toc...

Is there a way to avoid this?

Or is it not possible to 'unmerge' easily, and do I have to keep the projectstructure 'merged'...

br

Olivier

best regards

Olivier

Forget about merging CHM methods. They are a pain compared with frameless. The process for merging frameless is documented in detail on my site and you need to read that in detail. It is not complicated but the detail is important.

As I said, for the child projects the import will bring in their TOCs but the parent will need to be rebuilt. What is important is the folders you put the projects in, as I describe on my site.

    You state

I still have to test with a merged project. It's setup is complicated. And one has to stick to the method as explained in the youtube from matt sullivan. For ever. I'm retiring in a few months. I want to keep it as simple as possible for my successor!

Matt is simply describing what is on my site, his video was based on the method I describe. It looks complicated in a video when it's all rushing at you.

Read my instructions and download the demo project. From that you will learn the principles and can then follow them easily with your projects.

Each child project has its own TOC so that should upgrade as it was. If you wanted to keep them all as part of a merge, then you would have to recreate the TOC of the parent only.

Are you really wanting to unmerge the whole setup or are you thinking you need to do that to upgrade?

    Hello Peter

if I keep the project unmerged, my experience with chm as output was that it is complicated to manage (compile subprojects, compile mainproject). Maybe it' s a wrong reflex when I chose frameless as output?

on the other hand I want the path as short as possible. We are maybe going to use a translating tool and I've been warned about long path names. And, but that can maybe solved with another 'magic' trick, the path is shown in the browser. It's a monster. Even in is shortest form.

I've conclude that in case of 'unmerging', I'll have to recreate the toc. (right?)

At least that is what I read here : https://community.adobe.com/t5/robohelp-discussions/combining-child-projects-unmerging-in-robohelp2020/m-p/12656026#M142367
