Question

RoboHelp 6 Print Docs

I was really looking forward to using RH6 to produce printed documentation because I attended an Adobe seminar where the presenter mentioned that there were lots of improvements. Well, I am very disappointed. I have yet to create a print doc in RH 6 without first going through quite a number of 'Code execution has been interrupted' message boxes. With RHX5, there were quite a few formatting issues, which I hoped would be corrected, but I never got error messages like this.

I don't know what the problem is, but I would sure appreciate some guidance.

Thanks,
Mary

Sorry, didn't mean to worry you. I just wanted you to be alert to something that could, not would, cause a problem. Thankfully it hasn't.

I'm also encountering this problem with RoboHelp 8 and Word 2007. Just started noticing it this week. At first I thought it was related to a language output. I was seeing it when I produced Chinese output. But it happens when I create my printed output for English.

I get the code execution error dialog over and over again:

Saw some discussion on it being related to macros enabled/disabled in Word but then found this thread. As the earlier poster noted, I tried searching my registry for  RoboPDF in the registry. No hits found. I checked my addin list in Word and I didn't see the Robohook.WLLs listed. I did find RoboHook.wll in the Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 8\RoboHELP\Startup folder. But there was only instance of it, so I didn't touch it.

I checked Add-Ins in Word and found that the RoboHelp Word COM Addin was disabled. I re-enabled it  in Word and restarted Word. Also restarted RoboHelp. No change. Same error message occurs.

Any thoughts?

Well, rebooted my PC and now the problem seems to have magically gone away. Weird. I wonder if that's what solved Mary's problem too. When she rebooted, the problem went away.

You had me worried there for a minute. I checked X5 and it works fine. I then tried X6 again to make sure that it was still working and it still works fine!

There is one little thing that happens in X5 that I don't recall ever noticing before...a window pops up in the background ($stylePrepFile.htm) while it is working and then it goes away. It does not do that when I am using RH6.

In any case, they are both working— thanks to the help I received in this forum.

As always, thank you!

You had two versions listed as you have two versions of RoboHelp installed, as I do. Only one of the two is ticked on my PC. My guess would be that either both or the wrong one was ticked.

Check that X5 is working correctly and bear in mind that you may have removed a file it needs. Though it might be the new version is OK. Just something to think about if further problems arise.

Glad you found your solution.

Robohook.wll is user by RH for Word.
Glad to hear it's fixed.

Bless you all! Thank you so much for your help. The problem is solved.

I'm not quite sure what exactly fixed the problem, but here is what I did today. I tried some of the other suggestions yesterday and none of them worked.

I removed all references to RoboPDF from the registry. I checked my addin list in Word and I had two Robohook.WLLs listed. I removed one of them. The other could not be removed, so I figured that was probably the right one.

I rebooted. The problem is now fixed and I am soooooo happy!:)

I'd put my money on a bunch of obsolete entries for RoboPDFin the Registry .

Installing and uninstalling RH X5, and installing RH 6 may have left a mess. If you don't find a simpler solution, you may want to uninstall 1-Step RoboPDF, RH X5 and RH 6, do the recommended Registry cleanup for RH and eHelp keys, and track down anything in the Registry with RoboPDF in the key or subkey name or description.

Next reinstall RH 6 and its version of Adobe Acrobat elements. Test printed output. If that's OK, and you really need X5 on the same machine, reinstall it (and don't forget the X5.2 update). Do not install 1-Step from X 5.2.

Good luck.

Harvey

One last thought. You should run the MS Office repair utility, as you said you were considering.

When you generate to printed output, Word is opened. The message indicates the failure of a auto executing macro to run when Word starts. This can be caused by corrupt add-ins which are loaded when you start Word.

What add-in do you have in Word. The wrong version of Adobe pdf maker has been known to cause this problem in the past.

As the error message relates to VBA, I think the problem resides with Word more than RH.

As a precaution, I would also clear down the files in your Local Settings\Temp folder. There will probably be a few written during your attempts to create the output. This could lead to a corruption of the document. Temp files are known to cause document corruptions in Word.

I know the feeling but as the poster on Experts Exchange said, it took him two weeks to get nowhere until he shelled out.

If the repair does not work, then I would shell out. It's not a problem I have seen and I hang around a number of forums.

I agree that this is probably a Word issue and was just getting ready to check into repairing office.

I prefer not to pay for an answer:) I would rather figure it out.

We will see what happens. I will keep you posted.

My money is on this being a Word issue and it not going away without paying out to Experts Exchange. The only other thing that might be worth a try that I can think of is a repair of Microsoft Office. That will probably entail another uninstall of RH afterwards.

OK, tried the simple one folder path...same problem.

The interesting thing is that with a one topic (no text, just a title) Help file, I have the same problem over and over again, but when I open the output after getting all those errors, it looks fine.
