Search Appears Broken for HTML5 Output

We're currently using RH 2022.0.346 on Win10 and Win11 machines.

We recently upgraded from RH 2020. In an atypical situation, we ended up with HTML5 output generated from the 2020 and 2022 versions (some last-minute changes after we'd upgraded). Using the Search field in the HTML5 output from RH 2022 does not return any results. The Search works just fine from the output generated from RH 2020.

We just published this morning and customers are already reporting the issue. It would be great to resolve this quickly.

It was those .gz files again. They were somehow reintroduced in a new path when we upgraded. Our dev removed them and the search works fine again.

I am also having this issue.  Search works fine locally but once on server will lock up quite a bit in Microsoft Edge latest version.  I removed the GZ files from the server and it seems better but.... what's the deal with the gz files.  Where do they come from.?

@SueAustin99 In theory they improve the search time and for most people they do. The issue is being looked at.

Without that Adobe cannot help. I can arrange for you to send it direct if that is the issue. Otherwise I think you are stuck with it. Adobe want to help but need you working with them.

My dev doesn't feel comfortable sharing that information. He did say that a project we have in the works might resolve this issue with our architecture. It could be something that's resolved by the end of this quarter.

@Singlewire Tech Writer I took this up with Adobe again and they have come back with this.

Can we ask user to specify the details of the aws setup they are using so that we can setup similar on our end to test and analysis this issue further.

Please email me with those details and we can see where that takes us.

I can't answer that for certain. We thought we'd already gotten rid of them all. My dev says, "They cause issues with our cross-region replication, and our webserver tech because it prefers to serve those over the real files."

So, I'm special? Other descriptions are available. 🙂

I had asked Adobe to look again following this post. Are you saying that if you now generate, which will create updated/new GZ files, that you no longer have to delete them?

I don't want to waste Adobe's time if your fix is permanent.

    From our dev:

it appears we still had old gz files in west coast under /help/[fusion/cucm, mobile]/template/scripts.  nuked in west to prevent replication.  nuked in east and purged cache.  search seems to be working now.

I think what happened here is we always had the gz files for those template scripts, and upgrading RH introduced new ones but we were still serving the old ones via gz.

It's one of two things, as the developer will know. File differences or an environment difference.

That is not something about which I have knowledge. I have asked one of our devops engineers to investigate. I will post here with any updates.

Clearly Production <> Staging - so simple problem solving 101: blitz bad Production files and reload Staging's good ones. Bet you there's some cruft in there that a good flush out will solve 🤣
