Shared review document loses CSS formatting and images

When I share a topic for review in RH2020, the review document it creates has no CSS formatting, and all the image links are broken.  Any ideas for resolving this?  I'm a noob here.

I found the solution!  I moved my project files from a network drive to a folder in my C:\ drive, and the review formatting started working right.

I heard elsewhere that it causes various problems when filenames and locations have a period in them, and my network drive was masked with a domain name that had a period in it.  So I tried moving files to C, and this problem cleared up, and everything started working a lot faster.  Woot!

For the review to work it is hosted on Adobe's servers rather than locally. Adobe require anyone accessing their servers to have an Adobe ID.

I clicked the link you just provided and the images are broken. As it all looked fine for me when I did a review test with the About Robohelp project, I'm stumped about what could be going wrong for you.

Adobe requires an Adobe account to create or participate in reviews. See the prerequisites here: https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/review-process.html

OK, I'll start hassling Tech Support instead of you guys. 🙂

One last question:  Is there a way to send a review to someone without them having to get an Adobe account?  When I set a review to PUBLIC and send the URL to a coworker, it's forcing them to sign into Adobe.

You could generate word documents or pdfs and share those instead.  But if you want to use the online review feature, the prerequisites are clear I think.

No. I am saying that when I click the link in my project it works. In other words, anyone who in their project clicks the link in the field you showed should see a properly formatted topic. You haven't posted an actual link so how could I test your project?

My apologies. You did post a link and I now confirm that the link does not work for me either.

Can you share the project? If you can, then see the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.

I just double checked and when I click the link that @JohnStonecypher is clicking, I get a properly formatted topic.

I think at this stage my first step would be to create a new project with two topics that link to each other and have an image in one. Then test the review.

Also is the project on a local drive. It shouldn't matter but it's worth a try.

@Peter Grainge Are you saying you see properly formatted pages with images when you go to https://robohelp.adobe.com/view/49f245a4-39a0-403b-ac6c-5e89fb7ac30d-1fb373e70b/

@Amebr My browser is Microsoft EdgeVersion 108.0.1462.54 (Official build) (64-bit), and it's the only browser my employer allows, so I sure hope I can make it work.

Another strange thing... I set access settings to Public, and then I sent the link to my Gmail on my home computer. When I click the link, it makes me log into my personal Adobe account.  Doesn't Public mean that no login is needed?  Also, after I login and look at the review page in Chrome, it shows me the same thing -- no CSS, and broken images.

I did a quick test with the About Robohelp project and the formatting was fine in both the review panel in Robohelp and when I viewed the link in my browser. I was going to ask what browser you were using, but then I realised your earlier screenshot shows the topic inside the Review panel in Robohelp, not in a browser as I would assume most reviewers would use it. My only other thought was maybe your images and screenshots were outside your project somehow, but you said the About Robohelp project produced the same result for you.

Unless Peter has some more ideas, I think you might need to contact support for this one. See the following page for support contact options. The email address is recommended as it goes to a dedicated Robohelp team.

Wait, I got confused. You were viewing the review in the browser (hadn't finished my coffee yet. 🙂 )

So it could be browser related. I tried Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi and all displayed correctly. It didn't work at all in the old IE Edge but I couldn't test the new chromium Edge to see what that looked like.

@Amebr Yes it does look like @JohnStonecypher might be trying to open the copy in Program Files rather than where I explained.

My other thought is whether RoboHelp is crashing when @JohnStonecypher tries to simply open RoboHelp and before opening a project or only when opening particular projects.

@Amebr was exactly right!  I copied the files out of Program Files to My RoboHelp Projects, and now it opens just fine.  But when I create a review, share, and go to the generated link, what I see has broken links and no CSS formatting.

I've sometimes found that the correct sample folders aren't created under My Robohelp Projects when RH is installed. If you found the sample project in the Robohelp installation directory (under Program Files) then you'll need to make a copy of it in the My Robohelp Projects\Robohelp 2020 folder. The Program Files folder has additional Windows security which won't allow the project to be opened.

(If the samples werent correctly created under My Robohelp Projects I'd recommend you also log a bug with Adobe. https://tracker.adobe.com/

Post the item number in the discussion so people can easily vote if they want the same functionality. )

Try it with the About RoboHelp sample project.

You should see the sample project on the Starter Screen but if not then click Open Project on the Starter Screen to open File Explorer. Browse to Documents and then My RoboHelp Projects.

Peter and Amebr, I appreciate your extreme helpfulness!... When I try to open About_RoboHelp.rhpj, I immediately get an error message: "The application has run into an error. Please save your unsaved changes and restart from menu."  If I click Dismiss on that error, it continues trying to open but just spins forever.  When I restart RoboHelp, I keep getting the same error.

I don't use the review feature, but I wonder how the stylesheet is applied. Is it attached directly to the topic, or via a master page? I could imagine the stylesheet getting lost if it was applied using a master page.

Also, are you on the latest version of RH2020? (I think update 8 is the latest). If you're the first release of RH2020, there's a bug in that version that means you can't use the Check for Updates menu item and will need to download and install the patch manually.

Version is 2020.8.34.  I'm not sure about how the stylesheet works with this... In Author mode, it looks to me like it's attached to the topic:

That looks like it's attached to the topic, so unlikely to be a master page glitch. Peter's suggestion should help determine if the problem is specific to your project or not.
