Table of Contents does not display in responsive html5 output

I am having issues with RoboHelp 2020 where any time I generate a responsive html 5, the table of contents is not viewable after clicking the html link in the output folder. I have tried auto-creating a new TOC after making changes to the contents and have verified the Table of Contents drop down menu shows the correct TOC when editing the responsive html5 layout. Again, no output is viewable when clickin the html link in the folder the project outputs to.

OK but you are all on the same network and my thinking was to try it elsewhere. Various suggestions are unanswered.

    Hope it works.

There seems to be something fundamentally wrong here as RoboHelp always installs the samples. Is there a copy in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 2020\resources\data\template\projects\About RoboHelp? If there is, copy it to My RoboHelp Projects. Do not attempt to run it from Program Files.

Was RoboHelp installed with Admin rights?

See if you can get permission to share the project so that I can attempt to generate it? I think that will confirm there an installation issue here.

Is the machine a virtual machine or are you working remotely, anything like that?

We tried to have multiple people generate the project and it didn't work for anyone else either. So, I think we've landed on something with the project file or output generation being broken and are starting fresh.

If you look in the target folder using File Explorer, are all the files there? In other words is the issue they are not getting generated or they are there but cannot be viewed?

Also are you now seeing the TOC?

Can you generate the About RoboHelp sample project to the same drive?

If I look in the target folder, I don't see any files. I am still not seeing the TOC. I don't have any sample projects to that I am able to access in the Documents > My RoboHelp projects folder or the Program files folder.

    1. If you select the whole string and press Delete as soon as you type the first letter of the new start page, you will get d.htm for example and the cursor will go to the end of the string. You have to press the left arrow to go back to before the dot to continue.
    2. If you delete by putting the cursor in front of the original term and press Delete for each character, if you delete the dot in front of the file extension you get htm.htm. Then delete the first htm avoiding deleting the dot. You will then be able to enter the rest of the name.

That allows me to name the index page. However, I'm still running into the issue where I output to the same drive as the project, no output is seen in the chosen folder. I can see an output by clicking on the eye icon in RoboHelp after generation but that just displays a few pages and not the entire project.

Looks like there is a bug here but it can be worked around.

If you start to type are you seeing .htm and cannot then type? Put the cursor in front of .htm and you should then be able to type. If you see htm.htm, delete the first htm but not the dot. You should then be able to type in front of the dot.

If you click in that field and type, nothing appears?

You don't select the Start Page, you enter a name and RoboHelp creates it. Enter index.htm and double click that in the output.

Are you saying if you generate to say Z:\\Output the folder is empty but the same folder name on W works?

I can't enter any text in the text field for the start page. I can only delete the current page, but I can't enter any name. And yes to your 2nd paragraph.

I see you have given the default topic the same file name as the start page. Not good practice as it does cause confusion and is the likely reason here. I suspect you are double clicking the default topic rather than the start page. They are not the same thing and the default topic would open without the TOC. That is likely the whole problem.

Beyond that, the General screenshot shows you are generating to the W drive. Is that where the project is as well? I did indicate earlier both should be on the same drive. If both are on W I'm guessing it is a network drive. That is OK if the network is good but latency can cause issues. RoboHelp generally works best locally.

Is the start page on a Z drive as it seems to be? I am also wondering why you include the product name in the start page. It seems to be making it very long and I can't see any reason. The normal start page name is index.htm.

I am unable to actually select the start page in the general tab. I can delete what is currently entered, but I can't change anything about the start page.
The project is itself on a Z drive and always has been. The project is set to output to a W Drive, and always has been. both are network drives. I can't output back to the Z drive, where the project is located, because nothing appears in the folder location if I change the output to the Z drive.

Can you share the project? If you can, then see the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.

I don't think I can do that, I could send you screenshots of all the settings for the output generation, like the general, content, and layout tabs if that would work?
