Celine, your issue occurs during a print operation I assume. If you keep replying to the prompts you will eventually obtain your printed (PDF) file. This is an additional inconvenience that is bundled into the issue Actobat 8.0 Pro Closes Automatically issue. However, once your file is save you can only view it for some 10 seconds.

Jeff Moran: Can you give us an update?

    Thank you,
    Rick

I have installed the version 8. but when i opened the file it says:

License agreement was not accepted. Application will now quit.

Can anyone tell me how i can solve this problem?

I preformed the uninstall reboot to no avail. Then I removed it once again and installed using the complete option. That had/has no effect as well.

I noticed that during the setup that the print pdf is applicable to Office 2003. There is no mention of Office 2007 of which I run. Are any of you with this issue that do not utilize 2007? Just a thought.

Attn Gregory/Woo - See the instructions left by Jeff Moran 2:02pm Mar 29, 07 PST #190 . Basically you uninstall, reboot and reinstall, this worked for me.

Hey - sorry about the dig! Now I see my posting on this thread - a completely different thread than I originally read. Weird.

My situation stands... any fixes (for the 10 sec exit) come through yet?

    TIA.

Kinda weird - none of these replies are relavent to the original poster; Woo Jin Lee.

I am having the EXACT same symptom as Woo. With Acrobat 8 on Vista. Start it and it closes in a few seconds. No errors. No logs. Nothing.

    Any thoughts?

Woo Jin Lee - are you still around - did you find a fix?

    TIA.

The v8 licence (para 2.4) still allows a 2nd install on a home machine. The licence is available from the 'Legal' folder in your install folders. Activation may be an issue of course!

I have an IBM T60 and I purchased and installed the upgrade version of Acrobat 8 Pro (I have license copies of 5, 6, and 7).

I have the same issue with the Acrobat 8 application starting normally and then turning off. I have reinstalled twice, and activated.

Very frustrating. I will try Jeff's solution [#190].

QUESTION about two installations: with version 7 pro, I could have a copy installed on my desktop and also a copy of the same software license on my laptop. This was legal and I checked with the Adobe people when I did it. I have not called back to check about version 8- Has that changed with version 8? Are we only allowed to have one activation on one machine now?

If that is true, can I go back to using my version 7 license if I bought a version 8 upgrade? This is getting to be very frustrating and I have had it.

REFUNDS: If I can't have version 8 on both machines, and if version 7 is no longer licensed because of the upgrade, will Adobe give me a refund and let me go back to version 7 on both machines?

    Hello,

I am using an AMD Althlon 64 3500+, 2GB RAM and Windows Vista 32 bit (this isn't a Dell PC either). I'm having the exact same problem with Adobe 8 *Reader*. After 10 seconds of loading a PDF file the program automatically closes.

Having the needs to read some of my PDF's urgently I found if I was to scroll to where Adobe previously kicked me out, and then using the hand tool grabbed the screen, I could finish reading the text displayed on my screen. Although as soon as I let go of the hand tool the program closes.

Whilst I'm aware of the outstanding compatibility issues with Windows Vista, the problem sounds extremely similar if not identical between Adobe 8 Pro and Adobe 8 Reader. Coincidence?
