    > Ppl I am having a different problem here.

Then you should probably start a new thread. Else wise, your question will be buried alive in this unrelated topic.

Ppl I am having a different problem here. I installed the 30 day trial version of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional on my laptop. After the trial period was over I uninstall it as I was already using Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional. Now when I bought the license and trying to re-install the Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, the installer pops up for a second and disappears. I have checked every thing but did not find a solution to it. Please help.

I have seen this issue solved many times by creating a new user and then launching and activating under the new user. After activating you should be able to log back into the old user and lauch Acrobat 8 as expected and it should stay open. Bottom line...this is an activation issue and for some reason the old user is blocking the actiivation process. Good Luck!

Message 190 by Adobe tech Jeff Moran provided a fix for this problem that seemed to work 100% for all of us with legitimate software.

If you try it and it doesn't work, Adobe Support have asked several times to contact them direct.

For what its worth, I am running a fully licensed, activated version of the software. It seems pretty clear that this is the case for most of the posts on this forum. The problem persists on one dell machine, and I installed it on another with no problems (so far) -- however, this is not the machine I would like to run it on. Right now, I would not recommend upgrading to Acrobat 8 for other users because of this issue, it has cost me a lot of hours and frustration so far - and I hope it gets resolved. I think it is worth the staff hours to figure this out -- it is clearly an issue with the shrink wrapped product -- not just knock-offs.

I want everyone to think long and hard about this. I came across this thread by accident on Google and knew what the problem was immediately.

First off, Hector you are full of crap. You weren't using CRAP for testing purposes. If you were, your solution to your testing purposes not working wouldn't be a free reader, it would have been the full version of Foxit with PDF editing capabilities.

Second, for those of you that complain that Adobe charges too much money for their products, think why. This poor tech and his engineers has been spending umpteen hours trying to trouble shoot a problem caused by a bunch of idiots (not everyone, I know there were SOME legit problems) using cracked or pirated versions of their software...who incidentally have the audacity to come onto their forum and complain and demand an answer!

So where do you think Adobe recoups that hourly wage cost? In the friggin product pricing!

That's why people like me cannot afford the full Acrobat and are using Foxit.

That being said, just for giggles I ran Acrobat 8 on my dad's business computer (Mac and PC), with zero problems on five different computers (one Mac, four PCs).

Then I downloaded a pirated version from the internet, installed it, and BOOM the problem occurred within a day.

Needless to say I uninstalled the program and reinstalled the non-pirated copy and all the troubles went away again. What a surprise.

Some of you people should be downright ashamed of yourselves.

I have not used pirate or dodgy Adobe product's, and it occurred to my Adobe reader installation (Not even the full product).
I wonder if it relates to legitimate product's that come bundled with adobe software, e.g. Some video editing suits, Palm Pilot Companion software (Acrobat Reader for Palm Pilot's) etc.
(I did end up re imaging my notebook to resolve it, Have not yet been game to install my video and palm software)

    Just a thought.

    Thanks

Ok, I'm going to be honest... I was using a cracked version of Adobe Acrobat (FOR TESTING PURPOSES), because I only need to read PDF's not do all the things michael g jantzen pointed out.

However I must also confess thar FOXIT PDF reader has some problems printing ( at least to network printers ) because it is so DAMN sloooooowww it takes like 15 min. to get your copy ready...

oh God forgive me, I won't say that horrible things to Adobe never again!!
    I love Acrobat Reader!!
