Intertrust has released an updated version of its Doc Box plugin for Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.

Users that require the Intertrust digital rights management system in order to open secure pdf files are encouraged to download the new plugin. This new plugin also fixes problems for people who had system or debugger conflicts with the Doc Box plugin.

NOTE: This update is not supported on Windows 95. If you are using Windows 95 and are having issues with DocBox.api, simply remove any and all instances of this plugin. You can find the plugin by doing a search for "docbox.api" on your system.

After downloading the DocBox update to my system, I went to open the Reader 5.0 and got the same error message "ACROD32 caused an invalid page fault in module DOCBOX.API" that sent me to the update in the first place. My system support is WIN 95. Please advise as to what to try next. THANKS!

    Delete docbox.api
    Pretend it doesn't exist.
    Live long.

Loads in a minute on a T1. Probably, the authors did not consider low-bandwidth customers. That's a pretty frequent mistake.

Why are we deleting docbox.api again? I would not have thought it is an issue with Acrobat 4.

    Cheers,

I can't seem to get it to load in my IE5.5 browser with any of Acrobat 4.05, Reader 4.05, or Reader 5.0, but I did manage to download it by right clicking on your link, selecting Save Target As, and putting it in a temp folder on my hard drive. Then it opened fine. It's a 38 page full color magazine. 2 Megs. No wonder the download took over 10 minutes!

Thanks for the great directions! I found and deleted the file. For some reason I still can't get the pdf to load. Suppose it could be the site. I'm working with a slow modem and maybe don't have the patience for it, although it says Done and nothing has happened. http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/6059.pdf Want to see if it works for you? :) Am looking to read the article written by Sarah Stanton.

    Go to:

    1. Start>Find>Files or folders

    2. Type "docbox.api" in the "named" field

    3. Make sure it lists your local drive (probably C:) where it says "Look in"

    4. Click "Find Now"

    5. Click on any files it finds so they are highlighted, and press "delete" on your keyboard.

    6. Say "Yes" when it asks if you want to delete them.

    7. Empty your recycle bin.

    Any questions?
