How can Acrobat interact with EPUB files, if it can at all?

This article on Adobe's website reads,

 

"With [Acrobat's] versatile toolkit, effortlessly convert, edit, and refine your ePub files..."

 

Since the URL says that it's a blog, I thought this info could be outdated, but there's no date on the page. So, I can't tell if Adobe is giving me false info, if it's outdated info, or if I'm out of touch with Acrobat's capabilities. I tried to open an EPUB file in the web version of Acrobat and it failed.

I find it to be a very misleading page. Acrobat can't display or convert ePub files on its own.

Notice those instructions always talk about opening the file first in an "ePub reader application", or a "a suitable online ePub to PDF converter or download conversion software", which in other means "not in Acrobat"... They hide it very well, but it never says that you can open or edit these files in Acrobat directly. You can do so after you've converted them to PDFs, of course, but then they aren't ePub files any longer.

In this case you must use a text editor (Notepad++ or BBedit) to edit the files.

    An ePUB file is a mini website in HTML: make a copy, change its .epub suffix to .zip and then you will find some folders where you can edit/convert as usual HTML files.

    HI there JR - you say change the /epub to /zip. I have tried to find how to do that so I can edit the content but can't. When the ePub is open in Adobe Digital Editions I can't seem to save it. And I can't find a way to save it when simply clicking on it in the desktop file. Would you have time to perhaps explain how to save the file as a .zip? All help appreciated. Pip
