How to ensure that small edits are noticed?

I'm using Acrobat Pro DC on Windows 10 to edit a document. My comments or highlighting will be easily seen, but often I just need to add a period to the end of a sentence. It then appears tiny and black; not noticeable at all. Is there a way to make this kind of correction noticeable without having to create a comment with instructions to add a period?

Based on your other thread I would repeat my suggestion: Do NOT edit the original file. Add comments to indicate the desired changes and let the typesetter make the changes to the source document based on those comments, as you've said. They are much more visible and would any way be required for the editor to know what to do. Also, changing the file yourself is likely to cause all kinds of issues with it, probably much worse ones than those you're trying to fix.

Never, never, edit a PDF for a publisher. Not for a rewrite, not for a full stop. For some reason yuou seem to want to avoid using comments - but you must not only use comments, you must use exactly the right kind of comments.
