Question

Opening or Saving Excel .xlsm files are no longer allow

We use to be able to add an exception to allow users to open/save xlsm attachments prior to Abobe Acrobat Pro version 2022.003.20310 but after installing the fix no longer works.  Our ogranization attaches xlsm to Adobe files and we need to be able to open them.

Hi Jason26471108qje4,

Thank you for reaching out.

Would you mind sharing more information about the issue? Share the workflow you used to follow to attach the Xlsm files.

Did you experience this after the recent application update?

As mentioned above, you used to use a fix. Was that fix provided by Adobe?

Share the OS version in use.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

We attach the .xlsm normally either drag and drop or using the file attachment paper clip,

This started after the Acrobat Pro version 2022.003.20310 update.

The pervious fix was to set the registry value Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat
Reader\2015\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPerms

but this no longer works we get an Access Denied message.

We have been able to find a work around where you have to have the above registry setting.  Then when you try to save the attachment we change file type to .mmmm then once saved we use File Explorer to rename the file back to .xlsm.

This works but obviously this is not an idea way of doing things for a large organization.

The fix we used to use is

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat
Reader\2015\FeatureLockDown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPerms

Use the correct registry entry for your version of Adobe Acrobat.
