Hi Group, I recently purchased Zapfino, and I would like to know which non-script fonts would work nicely as a sub-title or body text. I saw 2 or 3 recommendations on Linotype's site about a year ago, but I cannot find that article now. Any suggestions for companion fonts? Thanks! Bryan

This message is more directed to Adobe. I am aware that currently OpenType fonts are cross platform compatible but only with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. However, my primary workspace is Fireworks-Flash. There are serious cross platform issues with fonts - I have looked at truetype, postscript and opentype and they all have issues translating onto PC - many of the styles are not available. In our studio I design on Mac but our Flash developers are on PC - our final renders and review renders always need to happen on Mac as a result of this cross platform issue. This is a little inefficient. When is Adobe planning on resolving this issue?

Hi All, My company purchased 3 fonts from the Adobe Type store for us... Helvetica Neue Std Light Helvetica Neue Std Roman Helvetica Neue Std Bold they're all OpenType fonts. Alas, we need to use it in Microsoft Word. On Macs, Word 2008: Light shows up as: HelveticaNeueLT Std Lt Roman shows up as: HelveticaNeueLT Std Bold shows up as: HelveticaNeueLT Std Bold On PCs, Word 2003 and 2007: Light shows up as: HelveticaNeueLT Std Lt Roman shows up as: HelveticaNeueLT Std and Bold is missing. I know how to insert specific characters in a document with OS X's Character Palette. But how would one set a whole paragraph in small caps, for instance? Adobe CS3 apps include the necessary typographic controls to do this, but many applications (including Apple's native Cocoa apps) do not. It appears at first glance that users of many word processing apps are losing easy access to expert charsets (in those fonts that include them) if they "upgrade" to OpenType fonts. Am I missing something? Thanks! Alan

Have recently had to change computers from iMac to iBook I have a compatabilty problem with Postscript fonts - on screen and printing - no outline or fill. Abobe Type Manager should resolve the problem. Until now I have never had the need for free update of the ATM software. The iBook file system will not accept my version of ATM 4.5 DELUXE And typically of the computer world, Adobe no longer support ATM. I am using an OpenType version of the Univers Condensed family in a number of applications. It works fine in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, but certain weights of the fonts don't work in Flash CS3 and FrameMaker 8. (We're using Windows XP.) In FrameMaker, we get an error message stating "Univers LT Std 47 Cn Lt font is not available and will be replaced by UniversLTDStd-Light. However, when we do this, it doesnt seem take and we keep getting the error and we are not allowed to save the file. In Flash, the problem we have is with Univers LT Std 67 Cn Bd. Any advice would be appreciated. If I need to buy another version of the font, I can try to do that, although it will make things hard when working with Flash vendors who use Macs. Thanks, Chuck

The autohint tool now spends about 2/3 of its time maintaining some data that is supposed to help avoid stomping on manual hinting, and to notice when a glyph needs re-hinting. I am considering dropping this functionality because: 1) it would speed up autohinting by a factor of 2 or 3, and 2) the autohint tool would no longer make the <PostScript Name>.plist file and would thereby avoid clutter. Does anyone care either way?<br /><br />The idea was that if you have carefully manually hinted a glyph in FontLab, you don't want that work replaced by running the autohint tool on your saved font file. By default, therefore, the autohinter will not hint any glyph which already has hints. However, you do want to re-hint any glyph which is edited after being hinted. I installed Ilustrator CS3 and so the ACaslon Pro family fonts in the font folder in Vista was installed. Later I replaced those by the ACaslon Pro fonts from Font Folio 11. Event those appear in the font folder of Vista, I cannot see then and use with any application. Later in properties I noticed that the original font name ACaslon-Pro-Bold.otf has been renamed to ACaslonPro-Bold_2.otf. If I tried to delete _2 , a window error appears saying that ACaslonPro-Bold.otf already exists, which is not the case. Can somebody tell me how to solve this problem? Thank you very much. M.

Anyone know of a typeface with classical Greek glyphs that can be embedded in a PDF? The face I normally use for Greek is Palatino Linotype, but I don't think it's embeddable. Thanks.

I really like the font face, but I thought a old style figures was part of the Arno Pro family. Yes, No? If that's not part of Arno font that came with Photoshop, how do I get the oldstyle figures? I am working on a project for a client in Poland. We have been given regular and bold weights of Avant Garde Gothic with extended character sets that cover the Polish language. Now however, we want to use the medium weight as well, but have no idea where one goes to find a special extended character set. I have tried numerous type websites with no luck. Any help would be great :)

Does anyone know exactly when Berthold fonts were discontinued? And was it in Font Folio 8 or 9?

We are using Illustrator CS3 with Adobe Open Type fonts on both a PC and Mac machine. When opening an .ai file on the PC that was created on the Mac, we get all the missing font errors. Both computers have the same fonts installed. The interesting thing is that files created on the PC open fine on the Mac without any font issues. What's the deal? Thanks, Kevin
