I have the same problem . Why happens?

I'm not sure. Did you try the steps in the first reply? Are you getting an error that the name you want is "not avaialble" or "already taken?"

Is it fixed yet?

I have the same problem: can't get past the nicknames page..

I followed your advice and discovered that my screen name was already set.

Why don't they just get rid of this? I recall having the same problem a whole year ago.

Try this...
Go to http://www.adobe.com
Click on Your Account at the top of the page
Log in with your Adobe ID and password
Click on Edit Your Account Information
Scroll down to the "SCREEN NAME" field and enter your name in there
Click on Update at the bottom of the page
