Question

What a mess!

I just logged in to the Lightroom Forum (again!) and was given the opportunity to also entry my Adobe ID. So, I did that. After about 5 to 10 seconds of watching the url change and change and change I got an error message saying that theurl was now back to the original page! In other words, the system was looping.

Does this junk ever get tested?

Yes all the time. How about you. :-)

Until I retired I worked on AV/Computer/Monitor/PA/ Intercom equipment for a school system I had at one time had to work on anything electronic for 25 schools and the school Board and sometimes the County adminstration.

The last time they reverted back to the old system I've been logged in from day to day even though I've turn my computer off at night then started the next morning or two or three days later just click on the link provided in the email notification and I immediately at the thread. and it said at top you are logged in as .... (my screen name).
And before they started screwing around t with the system the first time I had been that way for 5 or 6 years (ever how long the forums had been available.

What happens is the yahoo's working on the code do something to clobber cookies so they no longer work. You think folks that coul come up with such a complex Forum system as this would have enough upstairs to figure out how to do it without messing with cookies.

They have it's called NNTP. I think you've used it once. But not to
worry they will kill it off shortly.

Well, I don't remember when it was that I had to log in these forums for the last time before this logging-me-out-to-force-me-to-do-the-linking thing. And I liked that.

I prefer and want a forum system that will allow me to stay logged in for as long as I want. Through browser quits, through system boots.

There are some that have kept me logged in for well over 5 years.

    I like that.

Bob, I have complained for years because I must login each time I go to the forums "at the other side", which use the login procedure we will have to use now. I have received lots of answers, including people who also had the problem and suddenly stopped having it. I have followed carefully every bit of advice I have received, but nothing has happened. This has affected a Power Mac with OS 10.3.9, a desktop with Windows XP, and lately a laptop with Vista, using the same cable connection, connection through a normal phone line and internal modems, and lately a DSL medium speed connection, so I think it is unlikely a configuration/cookie/whatever error from this side.

Unfortunately, I ended by being the only one plagued by this problem, so there were no more messages. I did warn about the issue and its likely consequences when the dreared fusion finally came as it seems it will do soon, probably more than once, in the Forum Feature Request thread, but was probably ignored because I was an isolated case.

Again unfortunately, it seems i was not enterely wrong.

This is more and more annoying with each passing day.

Why must *I* login *every* time I open the browser and others don't?

Did those of you who don't login each time have you computers shut down when "something" happened.

Should We Who Are Annoyed delete all out Adobe cookies?

It would be nice to get some answers.

That was me John - the page was informing me I was present as a guest, and would have to register or log-in in order to post. I was getting a bit cross and tried it anyway - my post came up, but with my usual screen name attached.

It was like last time we went through this - sometimes I would get the message about being a guest, but 'you are logged in as...' at the top of the screen. That's why I was saying it was a bit more complicated than just having to log in over and over - *within* the same browser session.

At one point I saw this:
