Today I added two snippets to my RH project (68 topics, CHM output) and since then I have had several crashes. They seem to occur when I edit the topics containing snippets (of course it's hard to be sure). On one occasion RH hung for about a minute before crashing; during the hang it was using 50% CPU (i.e. all of one core) and its memory (as shown is Sysinternals Process Explorer) was steadily increasing, reaching about 1.5 GiB before the crash. The snippets are about 8 lines long, they use Multi-level lists and one (small) JPEG.Has anyone else seen this, or have suggestions for troubleshooting?--- Derek
Hey all I have made a few custom JS scripts that modify default behavior of a few RoboHelp functions, this works nicely however I have to manually include the JS file on every page. So my question is this; how do I programmatically append my script tags to the bottom of each page ether at build time or as a RoboHelp Scrip? Thanks
Is it still possible to purchase RoboHelp 9? My company still uses IE8 and will not be upgrading any time soon. I've tried looking on various websites with no luck. Thanks!
I am using RoboHelp 11 to create WebHelp. Today I noticed that FireFox (version 35) displays an empty TOC tab and non-functional Index when opened locally. The help works in IE and Chrome. I tested it with the previous versions of the help, as well, to be sure that the issue wasn't with something that I've added to this build. They all react the same way. Has anyone else seen this issue?
Our team uses RoboHelp 10. When we publish, none of the merged topics are showing up in the table of contents in Chrome. This works fine in other browsers. Below is an example of what is happening. "Accounts Payable" and "General Ledger" are two projects merged into the Financials KB. They do not show up when the Financials KB is opened initially. I know there were a couple other threads covering this topic, but none seems to have a solid solution to the problem. It appear to be a security issue with Chrome. Is there a way around this? Please let me know if you can help, thanks!
EnvironmentVisual Studio Professional 2010RoboHelp 11When we open a project from Version Control (in Team Foundation Server), we perform the following steps:Navigate to the Team Foundation Server MSSCCI ProviderConnect to a TFS ServerChoose the folder in TFS, which requires 6-7 clicks through the folder tree.Is there a way in RoboHelp to 'remember' the location of the XPJ in Source Control so that we don't have to repeat the eight clicks each time? Thanks.Carol
Hi all,Has anyone had issues with the ToC displaying the old ToC structure after updating the Multiscreen HTML5 output on the webserver? We originally had an issue with the whole project not updating (ie, we updated the output files on the webserver, but viewing the website showed the old version.) We had to clear the IE cache to view the new content each time. On advice, we've added meta tags to the project which prevent caching, but this only seems to affect the html files. Because the ToC is built from javascript, this is not affected and so is showing out-dated content and "file not found" errors if we've moved or deleted something. The advice we've been given for this javascript issue is to manually add a new, unique query string to each js reference after each compile.I've never come across this problem with help before.Any help appreciated.
When I revise content in a FM12 doc (and save it), then attempt to update a RH11 topic to which the FM12 content is linked (not imported), gears and wheels spin as expected, but the RH topic doesn't reflect the changed content from the linked FM doc. What gives?
I'm going through all the topics in a large RH10 project manually checking various things. A lot of topics contain drop-down text and to view the contents, I'm having to right click on each one and select 'Drop-down text properties'. Which is taking FOREVER. So:a) is there an option to expand all drop-down text in the current topic? I'm sure I remember this from a previous version but can't find it now.b) is there a keyboard shortcut to open drop-down text? Please say yes.
I am doing a test with the BlueVelet skin for a WebHelp US output I am building. When I preview the skin it shows me EMAIL, Previous, Previous and Next topic. etc. icons. When I build my WebHelp, I don't get them I only get Contents, Print, Email. I can't get the Previous and next topic icons to appear.
Is there a way of comparing two versions of a RH10 project and getting a list of any differences between them?I want to be able to provide our translator with an accurate list of what's changed in each new version of help.
I wants to place previous and next buttons while generating the chm. I had also selected a skin type XP Blue before generating the chm. But still in the output chm it is not visible. Please suggest what else i have to do.
I am investigating possible methods of embedding Help content within an application, and wondered what experience people have of doing this. I would also be interested in the pros and cons of the various RoboHelp outputs for embedding Help
Hi, I need help with the following things: 1. The print output created from webhelp (created using RH) files, shows only plain text. The webhelp output shows bold text (wherever necessary) whereas the PDF doesn't. We use Adobe Acrobat to create/convert webhelp to PDF. Is there something we are missing? Please help. 2. All updates we made using the track changes feature in RH aren't really distinguished (or show any different) when we create the webhelp output. The changes reflect as plain text in webhelp and aren't really highlighted (different text color, for example). For now, we are manually highlighting the text using different background colors, which is rather effort-intensive. I do know there is an option to create PDF for review, however, the client team has specified that they'd need webhelp files converted to PDF (using Acrobat). Is there a better way of doing this? Request someone to throw some light on this. Thanks in advance. Much regards,Raksha
RoboHelp HTML Version 10,Why has my CHM search stopped working? I get "no results found" for all searches...........rob
Is there a way to access Configuration Manager without having to be on the Robohelp server (possibly a web connection or client installed on desktop)?
Hi all!We have 2 very newTCS 5 installations (3.5 updates):All existing RH projects include linked FM data.On one of the workstations we have severe problems. The old RH9 projects are working.BUT The new RH11 projects are looping in endless calculation, when I try to updateexisting projects or when I insert a linked FM in a new project. The error message (after 10 minutes) tells, that the FM file is not a propper FM file or Framemaker should be installed.FM 10 and 12 are installed and the files can be loaded without error. FM works without problems. As this problem occurs only on one station, we looked forthe differences, but without a result. We have re-installed the RH11, but without a change. What else can we do?Please help!!
I have several projects in RoboHelp 11 that are complete in English, but now we are translating the content. I have read through the multiple language workflow instructions in the help, but I can't seem to interpret what they are saying. This step from the help files is very difficult to follow:Open an English topic, create a topic for the French language, and translate the content, including the topic title from English to French. (Do not translate topic filenames.)It is not possible to have two topics in the same project with the same filename...how would this even work? Do I need to create separate folders for topics for each language? I currently have topic htm files and table of contents translated for the project I'm working on, but I just don't know what to do with them now. I have been scouring the internet and these forums, but everytime I think I find something worthwhile, it's a dead link. I just want to know what the basic workflow is for adding topic files for other langua
The topic above pretty much describes the situation. Numerous attempts bring the same results. It stops at this point and goes no further.Any thoughts?Robohelp 9Generating WebHelp. Issue not encountered before now.Thanks.Holly
I am using RH8 generated files. In java code, I am calling Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command) where command = "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + url. The url is a file url (pointing to a local file on my computer) appended with #<id=2187>>newwnd=false. I have tried using the Desktop command, but java rejects the URI with the # tag.The specific help page for id 2187 is not displayed. The main page toc is displayed, which is the url without the # and Id.The url works when typed into the browser address line (Firefox 33 & IE11) , so I do not think the problem is with the browser or RoboHelp generated files. This problem is similar to Peter Grainger Snippet 13/8, but the solutions from that snippet that I have tried seem to be geared to a particular browser version.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've run into a situation where content categories (DUCC) could be very useful to filter by different roles or process paths. However, this functionality didn't make it into the HTML5 outputs.I thought maybe something in jquery could be 'implementable' but I have no idea where to even start searching, so I'm appealing to the hivemind. We are only targeting Internet Explorer (8/9 depending on who you talk to - long story, don't ask) and desktop output, so no need to consider accessibility by mobile devices. Many thanks for any and all suggestions
Generated help a couple weeks ago and all was well.Came back after a nice holiday and all is broken! Not just each help system I load which previously worked great, but also any new help system.Doesn't seem to matter which skin is used.
RoboHelp HTML 11, Captivate 7 I'm including Captivate videos into my Robohelp HTML project. I need to be able to shrink the video "object" to fit in our window. Rick, you've answered this question several times over the years, such as here: Re: How do you scale captivate file in Robo 9 to fit the screen? In my case, the output has to run in Internet Explorer without Shockwave Flash enabled. (Also, the user won't have RoboHelp or Captivate installed, if that matters). I'm told that our Captivate demos were published in "Scalable HTML" format. I was using Multiscreen as the output, but I'm open to one of the other HTML outputs. I tried it two different ways: I imported the Demos using File --> Import --> Adobe Captivate Demo --> HTML5 Output, then selected the appropriate index.htm file. The videos run, but resizing the text box or demo "object" only crops the video. We even tried saving them in a smaller size in Capt
Hi, I am building a CSH system by creating a Word doc that I will import to RH11. To link to the relevant application GUI, I need to add IDs to the <head> of each linked page, for example:<meta name="PageIdentifier" content="2cb189c6-7410-4634-a5b5-e89cecfcbf57" /> Can this be done in Word somehow? The best I can come up with is to include the ID in the Word doc, then mark it as an Index entry. When I import I select Convert Index->Add to Topics. In RB I then change the MS-HKWD tag to PageIdentifier. Just wondered if there was an easier way? regards,Mike
Can anyone help me answer whether Robohelp has a secure ftp (sftp) or secure http connection protocols? it only lists ftp or http, but not specifying if secure? Thanks.
